Joe Lieberman open to backing Linda McMahon
Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Thursday he's open to supporting Republican Linda McMahon over Democrat Richard Blumenthal in the Connecticut Senate race, a move that would once again infuriate Democrats in his home state and in Washington.

“I said I’m open,” Lieberman told POLITICO. “Is it theoretically possible? Yes. I probably know Blumenthal better, but I know Linda McMahon — she was on the state board of higher education, and I met with her a couple of times in that capacity. This is the great privilege that voters of Connecticut gave me in 2006 as an independent. Wait and see.”

Asked whether he is concerned about backlash from the Democratic Party should he back McMahon, Lieberman said: “I’m just saying I’m not eliminating it as a possibility,” adding that he was undecided on which party’s candidate to support in the Connecticut governor’s race as well.

A Lieberman aide said that the senator was simply indicating what he had said previously — that he has not yet made a decision on whether to get into the race and for the moment he isn't getting involved.

6. Would McMahon's election be the same as Caligula making his
horse a Senator?

Would the Senate have to install a ring and microphones, as well as live video presence in the corridors and rooms surrounding the well of the Senate so the viewing public could see what feuds and fights were going on?

Would a McMahon in the Senate make the Senate even a bigger joke than it already is, even though it already has LIEberman in it?

Just sayin'

8. The voters of Connecticut regret deeply they gave him anything in 2006.
I know, I have talked to quite a few here. If only they had voted for Lamont. Oh well, Joe has no support left here anymore.

9. Lieberman used to be popular in CT. Not anymore
His approval is 39%. It used to be way higher. I say Blumenthal wins regardless of Lieberman's support for the Republican.

11. And those Jewish voters in CT that voted for Lieberman in 06?
Well,...wish I could talk to them now like I did back in 06. I will bet any amount of money they are backing Blumenthal and not just because he's Jewish. He's also good and they know it.

16. They regret it now, I bet.
There is a certain amount of loyalty that some people got caught up in back in 2006. I think that went out the window once they saw the real Joe Lieberman, standing by McCain's side and all.

18. He's also deserted them, or at least the ones in his old neighborhood where
I canvassed for Lamont. These were people in his Orthodox shull and knew him personally for a long time. They are very nice people and very politely refused my material on Ned.

Now Joe is a no-show, not only in his old neighborhood but in the whole damn state. He has let them down, just as much as he has let the rest of us down. It is just one more nail in Joe's reputation coffin, AFAIC, and pretty awful if you think about it. Disloyalty at that level is pretty bad...
