The real lesson from this Sestak business

snip//

The real import of this story is this: If the Reps capture the House of Representatives this fall, they will have basically limitless power to keep these things churning forever, turning political horse-trading into potential crimes. They'll hold hearings, issue subpoenas, you name it. Remember the Clinton days. It will never end.

And they're even crazier now then they were then, now that they've convinced themselves we got us a Mooslum preznit.

This is what's at stake this fall. Forget policy. It's this: endless hearings and investigations until they find something that gets the public worked up, or until the public just cries uncle and says oh okay we're sick of hearing you crazy people, if it'll shut you up, just impeach the bastard already.

1. I'm more concerned with losing the senate seat we would have lost with Specter as our candidate. nt

2. The Rethugs did this in the mid to late 90's to Clinton and it backfired on them.
At least as far as Clinton's popularity went. It made people disgusted with Newt and co. The American people did not improve of the whole impeachment thing, at all.

3. And except for the Palinites, they will not approve it on the first black
President. No way.

It will show the Repukes are going to get in the way of real work every time and they will pay for that, IMO.

I wish Dems would campaign on that - remind the voters of Newtie's worst sins and how they care about bringing the government down more than about the country.

4. It reminds me very much of the Contract with America (or "On" America).
The Rethugs came into office in 1994 promising to be clean and not politics as usual and in another year they were playing games with the govt. shutting down and the budget. They always overplay their hand and never seem to learn anything. They will go a step to far and people will be pissed. They don't want petty infighting right now, they want a govt. that tries to solve their problems. These midterms are not about Dems, they are about incumbents. And if Rethugs took over the House and or Senate and pulled this it would swing the public right back to the Dems. Rethugs are inherently stupid.

6. How about "Keep your damn mouth shut!"
Thanks, Adm. Sestak, for talking about this and giving the Repukes something to get stirred up about.
