1. Isn't that just because they are able to remain on their parents' plan until 26?

2. Probably
That will only work if their parents have a plan for them to be on, however.

6. many new jobs do not offer health care coverage
Edited on Thu May-05-11 06:59 PM by lifesbeautifulmagic
but we all know that. Besides, it is just so damn expensive, especially when you add in college costs and/or paying back loans, rent, car expense and on and on. Why would a young and healthy kid carry insurance when they, if the folly of youth, think that nothing would ever happen to them, and they will be health forever.

And when we don't have a population of young kids that are more than likely not going to get sick not carrying insurance, and not paying into the big pool, guess what happens to my premium, being over 50. It sure as hell doesn't go down.

Like I said, this is not news to anyone. Especially the actuaries at the insurance companies. Therefore must have mandates.

When I fall asleep at night, I dream of single payer, financed through equitable and fair taxation. Yeah, I said that.
