Grace is underrated...our President has it.
Going to NY and communicating without making it a 'political statement', instead just talking to normal people, eating in a firehouse, being a very nice human being, when he could be so different.
I am delighted this man is my President, and gets what matters.

5. Todd Beamer's father doesn't think so.
He was I believe a passenger on the flight that crashed in Shanksville, PA. The one who said, 'Let's Roll'.

I read a portion of an interview from Mr. Beamer's father on ---- Freepervile :( It didn't make much sense because he said, the President used 'I' many times and that bothered him, he also feels the President is using this for political gain. "I" never heard the President use "I" once in all the speech or any other event that he spoke.

Sorry I don't have a link.

8. Beamer said that
because he listens to Rush Limbaugh... on the Fox interview, Mr. Beamer maintained that he (President Obama) couldn't get away with just letting OBL go after 9-11 once it was known where OBL was... never mentioned how President Bush quit trying...

10. It's been 10 years
one would think that Mr. Beamer's loss would cause him to be more aware of what bush did and failed to do, but as many have stated, he listens to Faux News and Oxyguy.

As a nation are we ever going to get it together? President Obama won the election handily, what the hell is driving our country to be split almost 50/50?

WTF do people want from this man? He's not the King or a Dictator. We've been in the much for so many years, even before the bush came along that it's amazing to me that he's made as much progress as he has, given he gets so very littel to non-existant support from the Repukes.

15. Al Sharpton just on TV
sadly said that if this big event cannot bring us together even a little, there is something seriously wrong... yes, there is something seriously wrong and it worries me...

there is a very real division in the perception of reality and in the way people view who and what we are as a country...

one of the Republicans at the debate tonight explained why he objected to extending unemployment benefits... maintained that people just have to do it on their own; obviously no understanding of how our "free market" system and unreasonable tax system is hurting so many people with no hope of working out of the hole they have been cast into...

I can't wrap my head around the irrational attitudes that so many people have created about President Obama... racism for sure but there is just so much hate towards him???

as you probably have read or heard there are those who think Obama is using this for political gain. They're projecting again! Republicans would be over the top with this if the President was a Republican.

Rudy the cross-dresser was singing a different tune today than the one he was singing a day or two ago. Not so ballsy when it comes to slamming the President to his face.

Yet, Obama was so gracious and thanked him and said, he (Rudy) showed tremendous courage on 9/11.Our man is all Class.

(My apologies to all cross-dressers) ;)

19. FWIW: "grace" in the Christian sense is mercy (especially to the undeserving)
Edited on Fri May-06-11 11:11 AM by Land Shark
I realize that's not the sense of "grace" used in the Original Post above, but Grace in the sense above is central to Christianity and yet so many Christians are both intolerant and unapologetic for their intolerance, despite their own reliance on the grace of God to them as undeserving sinners (as are we all, according to Christianity) for the very core and the very heart of all they believe in, and all they hope for. Go figure...

A "miracle" usually fits with our sense of justice, or at least one perspective on justice. (e.g. healing the sick, etc.) Some doubt miracles, as we all know. But grace is by definition given to the undeserving - which is all of us. Isn't this example of God's love the greatest miracle, and grace, of all? Should it not be inspiring, even to those condemning the church, that the real message is so much better than some of the preaching?

I very much concur with the Original Post in saying "grace is under-rated." Even that characterization is under-rated! :)

22. He is a fine ambassador to the world.
The world is wretched in so many ways, I believe he wishes in his heart to alleviate much of the damage, and he does maintain grace in terrible circumstances. He's burdened by far too many in power who would rather see a greater mess in order to benefit from the chaos.

It's a big quilt of crazy and will take a long time to unravel it.

28. the day the music died
In my opinion, the day we started down this un-unified road was the day that the fairness doctrine was struck down. This event paved the way for the right wing propaganda machine. There was much wisdom in the drafting of the fairness doctrine, deregulation has allowed special interest to control the public airwaves and for those who listen, they have been brainwashed. it's a damn shame...
