3. How many software engineers do you know?
Most of the ones I know would just confuse the hell out of your average congressman. You need to send somebody who can speak in words that congressmen can understand.

4. I think i'm only one of 10 engineers who know how to speak english
which might explain why im unemployed >.>
I would be more interested in the background of the lobbyist.
could be his background is in engineering.
point being it's useless to send a real engineer if you want to explain something to a senator.
If you want to explain something to a senator you send a lobbyist.
if you sent me, i'd just get in trouble because i'm honest, and i don't really give a shit about rank.
it's a bad habit being in IT so long.

point aside, perhaps google wanted to send someone who is capable of answering questions, as opposed to spewing technical bullshit that will only confuse senators.

but that's my two cents *shrugs*

6. Yeah, "i don't really give a shit about rank" happens.
If they were asking about gkismet (which is an internal google version of kismet, and got them in trouble for supposedly "collecting private data"), I'd be more than happy to explain why publicly broadcasting radio stations is common, and not an invasion of privacy, and they'd likely not understand what I was talking about....
So I'd backtrack by explaining common uses of TCP/IP over radio...
...and they'd likely not understand what I was talking about....
So I'd backtrack by explaining TCP/IP, and how radios work....
...and they'd likely not understand what I was talking about....

"Series of tubes" and all that, congress is really technically inept, and I'd likely point out they they were not qualified to be asking me questions about things they do not understand in the slightest.
