4. Isn't a rapper a poet?
I mean music is basically poetry set to a tune so the rapper is poet. He may not be a "traditional" (white) poet, but he is a poet nonetheless.
I wonder what sort of music palin listens to? Nazi march songs perhaps.

I bet she listens to Ted Nugent while flying around shooting wolves and stuff... creepy is as creepy does.

So that's why we shall vote in Rick Santorum, with his more tasteful lexicon "gay marriage will lead to man on dog"! :sarcasm:

But really, I can't believe how many people believe this kind of BS message (rapper! White House poetry thing! The horrors!). So who's a better poet? Tim McGraw? Justin Bieber? Contemporary Christian musicians?

19. its a reference to "A Letter to the Law" performed by Common in 2007
on Def Poetry. The RW crazy train is of the view that in the lyrics of this rap, Common called for George W. Bush to be "burn" (or be burned).

In other words, more BS.

22. Common is actually a very talented rapper who avoids the stereotype of the genre.
Edited on Tue May-10-11 04:51 PM by Starbucks Anarchist
His rhymes stay away from violence and misogyny.

Of course, the Halfterm Halfwit saw "rapper" and immediately assumed he was a gangster. Here's the lyrics to his song "Be."

I want to be as free as the spirits of those who left
I'm talking Malcolm, Coltrane, my man Yusef
Through death-grew conception
New breath and resurrection
For moms, new steps in her direction
In the right way
Told inside is where the fight lay
And everything a nigga do may not be what he might say
Chicago nights stay, stay on the mind
But I write many lives and lay on these lines
Wave the signs of the times
Many say the grind's on the mind
Shorties blunted-eyed and everyone wanna rhyme
Bush pushing lies, killers immortalized
We got arms but won't reach for the skies
Waiting for the Lord to rise
I look into my daughter's eyes
And realize that I'm gonna learn through her
The Messiah, might even return through her
If I'm gonna do it, I gotta change the world through her
Furs and a Benz, gramps wanting 'em
Demons and old friends, pops they hauntin' him
The chosen one from the land of the frozen sun
When drunk nights get remembered more than sober ones
Walk like warriors, we were never told to run
Explored the world to return to where my soul begun
Never looking back or too far in front of me
The present is a gift
and I just wanna be

It's actually a politically charged piece that speaks to the experience of some AAs with the police and does not advocate killing cops.

29. Hannity was going on and on about this this afternoon on his radio show
Edited on Tue May-10-11 07:01 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
it seems like everytime I dare to turn on his show, he's focused on some kind of "radical" person that the Obamas know, have met, are affiliated with, etc. He has this unknown woman on his show whenever he's having these conversations and some other guy whom they're repeatedly hitting over the head with all of this (must be Alan Colmes' stand-in punching bag?) To Hannity, anybody he doesn't like is apparently too racially divisive, too radical and that Obama is committing some kind of grave travesty. God, I think that I actually hate Hannity slightly more than Limbaugh (his icon). :puke:

Oh, and what's this, more hypocrisy from Fox courtesy of Media Matters: http://mediamatters.org/blog/201105100018
