Will (Florida) Gov. Rick Scott seek the White House in 2012?

Rick Scott for president in 2012?

Absurd as it sounds, people who have talked to Florida’s tea party governor about the Republican presidential field are convinced Scott has a bid lurking in the back of his mind.

“I’m not running for president,’’ Scott declared last week.Probably he won’t.

But let’s say the field of Republican candidates still looks muddled and uninspiring come November. Let’s say no one has managed to persuade Jeb Bush or New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to get in the race. Let’s say fed-up tea party activists still dominate the GOP primary electorate and show no enthusiasm for the “electable” Mitt Romneys, Tim Pawlentys and Jon Huntsmans of the world.

2. Christie is at 38% popularity in NJ
I doubt he'll even be able to run, despite the media labeling him a popular governor.

5. You mean the same guy who turned down billions for his state for a project that would provide jobs?
Oh yeah this guy sucks.

7. That's a lot of "ifs." IMO it's more likely that under a similar scenario they
draft Jeb Bush. While he won't actively seek the nomination, I don't see him turning down a draft.

8. Yes please
I prefer him as a losing Presidential Candidate instead of a sitting Governor.

9. Another "quitter" for the WH?
And with one with massive ethics violations? The Teabaggers will love him, but the GOP establishment won't.

10. Scott could probably not even get re-elected here in Florida.
Even in my excruciatingly conservative part of the state, many, many people loathe him.

12. Gee, what ever happened to "He's too inexperienced to run"?
That was a popular GOP meme against Obama three years ago, but now, Christie, Rubio, Scott (and to some people, Palin) are so damn experienced they'd make Jimi Hendrix smile.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Republican.

13. Scott is a trainwreck
for the state of Florida. It will take many years to fix this state as it descends into darkness.

14. Vice President nomination would make more logical sense for Scott.

Obama's going to be re-elected easily next year. A VP nomination for Scott would make him a front-runner for the open presidency in 2016.
