Poll question: Will the Fortune 1000 allow the Republicans to push us into default ?
I don't think so, but I've been wrong before.

1. If they do
they truly are the stupidest business men to have ever lived.

3. That's The $13T Question!
I've been intensely following this issue for years, now, and I can't tell.

I don't think there is a consensus, nor a general conspiracy, amongst the Fortune 1000.

There are a bunch of whackos, though, and THEY have a conspiracy. How large a group they are, is anyone's guess. How much power they have, how much influence they can swing, is not clear either.

It will be interesting to watch. I'd like to see them sort it out:

There once were two cats of Kilkenny,
Each thought there was one cat too many;

So they fought and they fit,
And they scratched And they bit,

Till excepting their nails
And the tips of their tails

Instead of two cats
There weren’t any.

4. Default deniers: The new skeptics
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0511/55087.html

They are the newest breed of government skeptics, the swelling ranks of Republicans who don’t believe the Obama administration when it says a failure to raise the debt limit will prove catastrophic.

And they stand ready to make negotiations over raising the cap on debt as grueling as possible, making Treasury officials and Wall Street more nervous than ever that the country could suffer an unprecedented default with consequences no one can predict.

The suspicion, which once flourished on only the conservative outskirts of economic circles, has seeped into the mainstream in recent weeks, gaining broader acceptance among establishment Republicans, even as the administration issues increasingly dire warnings...

AND THEREIN LIES THE RUB.

IT'S PREJUDICE--AND IGNORANCE==AND MASSIVE HUBRIS. AND IF THE DEFAULT RESULTS, IT WILL CHANGE THE GLOBAL ECONOMY FOREVER, AND PROBABLY SEND A LOT OF THE ECONOMIC ELITE INTO TAILSPINS THAT MIGHT LEAVE THEM LEARNING HOW TO LIVE ON A STREET THAT WASN'T NAMED FOR A WALL....WHICH WOULD BUILD CHARACTER AND DESTROY ILLUSIONS OF OMNIPOTENCE.
