4. Is it just me or does it seem like, regardless of ideology, Cameron and Obama
get along better than Brown and Obama?

5. To again state what most already know, Wolf Blitzer is an idiot.
Just prior to the President making his entrance into the Hall, Wolf stated that the Pope, Nelson Mandela and others were the very few invited to speak to this joint group (not even Reagan was invited)..."Why this President?" I damn near lost it and I'm up on the 7th floor. I had to leave CNN again and go to another station.

His address to Parliament was articulate, specific, and historical. He wowed them and they are a tough audience. Thank you Mr. President....

10. unfortunately for his distractors.....
Pres. Barack Obama is creating history and it is that which no person can ever take away....
or diminish (even as they try).

People who understand history know this well, and no matter what is said about this President
currently, he will fare very well as time goes on.

Sure, the navel gazzing will go on throughout his Presidency, may it be for one term or two,
but those who believe themselves to be the only real experts in everything will sooner than
later be humbled....as what they represent or believe will not keep this President from being
great....and regardless of what is said, that's exactly what he is. In retrospect, he will be seen as even greater..... Mark my words.

14. Amen! He is a great president and the first I've been proud to call MY Prez!
I liked JFK and Clinton, as well, but this guy knocks it out of the park with his graciousness and energy. Barack, Michelle, the girls and Bo are the best First Family in the WH, as well.

But I diagree; The rise of new powers--China, India, perhaps Brazil--indicates a laternative vision to Western leadership, especially in terms of economic ideas and global development.

18. He is the first American president to address both houses of Parliament in Westminster Hall.
Edited on Wed May-25-11 08:35 PM by ClarkUSA
BBC: "He is the first US president to address MPs and peers in Westminster Hall."
Read all about it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-13533306

The only other people to do so have been the Queen, Nelson Mandela and Charless De Gaulle. BTW, Westminster Hall is about a 1000 years old.

23. From your link (my bold)
Two previous US Presidents have addressed Members of both Houses of Parliament – President Reagan in 1982 and President Clinton in 1995. Both gave their addresses in the Royal Gallery.

Who the fuck cares where the address was made at. Next it will be the first from a particular podium.

25. lol! I never said that and you wrongly accused me of "denying history".
Edited on Thu May-26-11 12:06 PM by ClarkUSA
You were wrong then. My reply to you distinctly mentioned "Westminster Hall":
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=433&topic_id=679299&mesg_id=679813

And you're splitting hairs now. Face it: President Obama has been uniquely honored amongst the panorama of English history. Neither Raygun or Bill "Paul Ryan's BBF" Clinton speech venues came close in terms of historical significance or majesty, as any British political historian would be happy to tell you.

If he gave the address on the London Bridge you would be saying he was first to do that.

You're the one who's "denying history". Fortunately, there are plenty of people around the world who are happy to acknowledge the truth about President Obama's historical achievements.
