Count on it, Folks: Palin IS Running
I've known this since Election Night 2008, when she got miffed that she couldn't speak as part of McCain's concession event.

Now, many of you feel that she's vamping for attention to further raise her profile, so she can make even more money. That's been the conventional wisdom for quite awhile now. But it ignores one very crucial factor: Her ego.

Palin's sense of self-importance is bigger than that country she claims to see from her porch. Hey, who are we kidding? It's bigger than the whole fucking planet! And that's the type of megalomania that NO amount of money can satisfy. Mark it down, people: Sister Dumb-as-Two-Mules Sarah is running.

Personally, I look forward to this: If she wins the GOP nomination, Obama will achieve a 50-state sweep in November, PLUS each and every Democrat will be guaranteed 8,621 belly-laughs.

13. Charmin smells
Not surprised that $arah uses Charmin. It smells so nasty, is that a Koch product? I can smell it sometimes when I walk into someone's house.

And I think $arah is running. The people that are paying her will make her run. That kind of money doesn't grow on trees. I don't think she has a choice. It won't be pretty.

Bless her heart.

because I play golf at the best private club in southern Washington state. I talk politics often even though I am outnumbered 10:1. And NONE, ZIP, ZERO, NADA will vote for Palin in the primaries. They are unanimous in saying she is an air head.

66. But will they vote for her in the general
The republican primary is going to be a giant clusterfuck with the winner getting only a plurality of votes so I can see her getting the nomination (although I disagree with the OP - I don't think she's going to run - too much work). If it comes down to it, will these golfers trust her with the nuke codes?

4. I disagree 100%. She's still working at Faux. She, like Huckabee, wouldn't still be there
if she were running. She's pulling a Trump for publicity-for her brand. She needs attention which has been waning big time, which means her value (for paid speeches, books, etc.) is waning, too. That's the only reason she's pretending she might run.

I disagree with your disagreement with O'Donnell (and me). ;) I think as long as she "might" be running, her speaking fees will go up. Just the "buzz" around her "maybe" run will be enough, while she continues to collect her Faux News checks.

37. Fair enough, but lets set some ground rules...
Edited on Fri May-27-11 07:26 PM by stevenleser
for instance, I predicted that Trump would run for President. I still believe that he fully intended to do so.

What I could not predict was the President releasing his long form birth certificate and he and the SNL comedian pounding Trump into the ground at the correspondants dinner. Those two events, plus the killing of bin Laden destroyed the possibility of Trump making it. That is why he decided not to run, in my opinion. Had those events not occurred and Trump's standing among other GOP Presidential hopefuls remained high, he would have announced, again in my humble opinion.

So in the case of Trump, those who predicted he would not run feel that they were right, but are they? Sort of. I say they are lucky. The question is, did he intend to run. Does he want to be President. To me the answer to both of those questions is and was yes.

Similarly, it is possible that Sarah will not run, but she is going to try everything to make that run possible. The movie and the bus tour are only the beginning of her efforts. If after everything, she is not in the top three contenders in Iowa or nationally, she will not announce. If she polls in the top three after her efforts, she will enter the race.

O'Donnell criticized how she is going about these things suggesting that the methodology means she is not serious but the incompetence isn't evidence of anything because it's Sarah Palin. Incompetent is her modus operandi.

43. OK...
but I think you were wrong about Trump, too. He obviously lied about his "investigators" he supposedly sent to Hawaii who were finding so many shocking things out about Obama's BC (or lack thereof). He lied about releasing his tax returns once Obama released his "long form" BC. So, I don't believe he was ever planning on running.

And about Palin, how will we know that she was planning to really run if she doesn't finish in the top three "in Iowa or nationally"? It will be another Trump theory you had. And are you talking about the Iowa Straw Poll? What national poll counts? More details needed...

46. Thats the problem, right? How do we know...
... in terms of Trump, I think the way he exited is even more of an indication that he was serious about wanting to be President. With the funds at his disposal, he could have self funded an exploratory committee and used it to gain a whole lot more publicity for himself for a number of months and THEN bowed out if publicity was his goal. I think he was serious and when he started getting polling numbers at the bottom of the pack and with no more sensational stuff to throw out there to regain his status among the leaders, he dropped out. Think about it. Why would a publicity seeker bow out at that point? Hes got nothing going on for a few months. His show aired the final episode of the season.

Palin is going to be more complicated but perhaps we can agree on a standard. If Sarah Palin is polling nationally like she is now in the CNN opinion poll here http://www.pollingreport.com/wh12rep.htm (in other words, in the top 3) AND she is top 3 or better in Iowa polls between now and August and top Two in Iowa thereafter, she will run.

If she maintains those numbers and drops out anyway, you can say I was wrong.

48. I think we know why Trump dropped out when he did...
Edited on Fri May-27-11 10:30 PM by jenmito
the NBC lineup for next season was announced and they were getting inquiries about whether or not the show would be renewed with Trump still in it. They probably MADE him announce that he would return the next season, therefore NOT being able to wait 'til his season finale (which he said was when he'd announce the date of his announcement whether or not he'd run). Even if his poll numbers had been near the top, bin Laden hadn't been killed, Obama hadn't released his BC, etc., he knew he wouldn't be able to keep up his lies and WOULD drop in the polls. He would've had to reveal his financial info., would've been asked what the findings of his "investigators" were, etc. So he couldn't keep the fake campaign going thanks to NBC.

Regarding Palin, OK. I'll go along with your conditions. That's how sure I am of myself. MY theory is that even if she is in the top 2 or 3, she'll claim that she thinks someone else in the race (with better approval ratings) should run.

"of just how truly out of touch she is with reality. She will NOT get the GOP nomination" After GWB I don't belive nothing wil be to dumb, to get the Republican nomination... And I also fear (really fear, in the sense of nightmares) that many americans could more than happy vote for her...

Everything is posible after GWB.. Before him, I doubt she would have had a chance in hell... But when I saw how many americans who "loved and prised" GWBs name.. Im not to sure anymore.. In fact Im little AFRAID about what the next election is given US, and the world of stupid leaders.. One thing is for a smal counry to have a stupid leader.. Another is to have a stupid leader in a country like US...

The global and national situation that favored GWB is not in place for Palin. She is loudly revered by a consistent 23-27% only. That number never seems to waiver. I honestly think she has peaked...she has been over exposed and even the Right trash her way too often that is deemed polite....her popularity has nowhere to go.

Palin is in it for the money, period.

Campaigning is extremely hard work, and if we have seen one thing from Palin, is that she absolutely refuses to do anything difficult.

Showing up for a TV interview is the farthest thing from work, a ten-minute blather and she gets some money, a fifteen-minute speech to the sheep for a paid appearance and she cashes a check, all with a free private jet, hotel room, food, shopping, all paid for by someone else...

She loves that gravy train, and never wants it to end.

I think Palin can't stand being out of the limelight so she plays her little game of "Look at me! Look at me!" Palin would have been suspended just like Gingrich and Santorum if she had even hinted at a run. (Ailes doesn't like her anyway.) She has done nothing to actually run a campaign or what leads up to one. Palin is nothing more than a publicity whore.

An important thing to know about Palin is that she's really only in the game to improve her visibility and personal cash flow. I don't think she really gives a rat's ass about winning the election: being president would be hard boring work. But she does care about getting attention and boosting her earning potential

Anyway, if she starts moving up in the polls, we can take plenty of fair shots at her

Seriously, this woman has NO politial infrastructure in place for a presidential run.

She reminds me of the Salahis -- remember them? They crashed the first WH State dinner. It was a Real housewives of DC stunt.

I have a strong feeling this is the same sort of thing here. Isn't Bristol under some reality show contract? Bristol was here this weekend as well.

I don't think she is running, unless it means trying to trump Trump. And last I heard, she was meeting with him: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2011/05/31/2011-05-31_sarah_palin_donald_trump_to_meet_for_dinner_in_new_york_trump_tower_followed_by_.html

She's having dinner with TRUMP! She's not a politician, she is a reality show.

67. What a big sick country we have that anyone would EVER think of...
considering her as a bona fide Presidential candidate. SICK!

Of all the people serving in responsible public service jobs, Police and Fire chiefs, Mayors of large cities, administrators in military, and civilian federal jobs, men and women with actual management talent and solid educational attainment ... no one ever considers THEM as "Presidential candidate material" ..why is that??? Why do we ignore the talent and pay attention to an attention-seeking bimbo?

For the media to follow her and pretend she's seriously qualified. SICK!

For 15% of Republicans to waste their vote on this boob, SICK!
