Poll question: Who is your least worst Repuke?
If by some horrible twist of fate, a Repuke wins in 2012, who would be you least worst ?

Not even going to list dipshits Palin or Bachmann, or Perry (I'd better stop or
I won't have anyone in the poll)

2. Out of that sorry lot
the only one I can see not completely fucking things up would be Huntsman. I think Pawlenty would get let around by the nose just like shrubbo did with Cheney and Rove, not only that he said that he thinks he's "cool" and everyone knows that if you have to say you think you're cool you really are a privileged dipshit.

3. a little about Huntsman....
From Faux News....

"Former Utah Governor Republican Jon Huntsman is also exploring a possible bid for the White House. With a lineup so far that can only be described as “lackluster” the addition of an intellectual capable candidate )see note below) with tremendous diplomatic credentials and experience as governor of one of the most fiscally healthy states in the union ought to spice things up a bit."

Note: Shouldn't it be "intellectually capable candidate" ??

5. Actually, the least worst is in fact the most worst.
Because it'll grab a sizable amount of far-but-not-ultra-far-right* voters.

* This is the segment of the electorate erroneously referred to nowadays as "centrist".

Edited on Sun May-29-11 03:01 AM by BlueIris
he, at least, has a modicum of rationality to his thoughts processes. That does not make his decision to sell out NYC to the far right acceptable, and I doubt he used his good judgment in that many occasions in the past decade, but at least he isn't a fundamentalist whack job.

Giuliani is the only one on that list who ever did anything seriously worthwhile in the course of his public career. I refer to his work as a federal prosecutor against the Mafia.

And he's sort of pro gay rights (meaning he will not get the 'pug nomination).

Hey, at least it's something.

Seriously. I would not trust ANYONE who was a Republican, no matter how moderate or reasonable-seeming.

The Republican platform is so awful -- and the mix of people a republican president would have to placate are so disreputable that anyone who chose to be associate themselves with that cast of creeps would have to be awful by extension.

23. Huntsman seems like a decent guy.
I mean, obviously I'm hoping Obama's re-elected (and think he will be), but if a Republican had to win I'd be relatively okay with Huntsman... he seems like a reasonable, principled Republican, and God knows there aren't many of those around these days. The fact that a lot of us at least respect Huntsman if not agree with him shows he doesn't have a chance at making it out of a Teabagger primary....

Which is a shame, 'cause while I get why people would like a Palin/Cain/other loon nomination and, presumably, an Obama landslide, no election is a 100% sure thing and if something happens that causes Obama to lose I'd rather a President Huntsman than a... well I can't even bring myself to type it, but I don't want Palin in charge.

24. Since you're asking
somebody like Romney, Pawlenty, or Huntsman would be the "least worst" and probably the easiest to knock off in another four years. It's easy for the Republicans to sit on the sidelines and attack President Obama and the Democrats for not fixing things fast enough (without contributing anything to the effort I might add) but, as we've seen with the House GOP or any of the newly elected Republican Governors, their "solutions" are anything but. Hell, most of them are not even doing ANYTHING in regards to job creation and not only are they NOT helping unemployed people become employed but they're turning the screws on people whom are ALREADY employed or talking about completely different things entirely (i.e. abortion, Planned Parenthood, NPR) that have NOTHING whatsoever to do with jobs or improving anybody's standard of living.

As the campaign grinds on the Republicans settle on their nominee I believe that voters will ultimately see that the Republicans have no real new ideas about anything and basically want to go back to how things were during the Bush II years, which I don't see a lot of voters supporting.

There's an argument to be made though that there would be no "least worse" Republican since they're so busy kissing Tea Party butt and will have to deliver on all of the crazy and/or insane promises they have made or will have to make in order to just make it through the Republican primaries.

32. Are we even sure Trump's a republican? He seems like an anti-incumbent independent to me
Edited on Mon May-30-11 07:14 AM by ShadowLiberal
I don't think Trump is even a republican, he's switched parties multiple times publicly. He's also strongly opposed both Bush and Obama when they were president.

Trump looks more like a unrealistic 'blame everything on the president' independent voter to me.

And there is no least worst republican, they're all horrible in their own way.

36. I'm a Democrat. All Republicans are equally 'the worst'.
In fact, the Republicans that try to seem moderate while still standing proud next to the extremes in their Party are in many ways worse than the extremes. The likes of your Huntsman help lend credibility to the Palins and Bachmans, that is what they love to do. Huntsman is also a Mormon, making him a no go for the 'faith community' as a whole.
The very idea of picking a favorite Republican on DU is disturbing to me. None of them is any better than the worst among them.
