Now, how would you feel if you were the "serious" GOP candidate and had to deal with this problem? What I find so funny is this woman is like a huge flash-fire - it quickly hits its highest intensity, sucks all the oxygen out of the room and then.......nothing.

I think it is going to be quite enjoyable watching the other GOP candidates try to figure out how to deal with her and how they will decide to campaign with her. Not only that, I think it is going to be interesting to watch how they use sexism and how she and the rest of the right will give them a pass.

Now, my biggest fear is she will be able to bullshit the gullible in America, but hopefully that will be just a small percentage who keep following this idiot.

1. Not to give the other GOP candidates any good ideas, but I
think they should just ignore her. It's what would cause Palin to burst as she tries and tries and tries to be the center of attention.

getting it. She won't stop until she does. If I was a GOP candidate (one of the serious ones), I would just ignore her.

35. But don't you think
that the constant reinforcment of bb's like DU, help to ensure Palin's reputation is kept in tact?

I mean, the last thing we need is for the entire blogosphere to assume that no negativity printed regarding Palinista means that the world has softened it's stance?

Why, it's exactly the media and human response/attention that keeps her popularity down to the 20's%. For those that tend to have kind popularity give them the only information they need for voting, keeping up the pressure and making her idiocy known, is probably the best course of action imho.

37. I don't think she does want respect from the GOP
Her mythology of herself in Alaska was that she was the candidate who took on the GOP establishment and won. In reality, it was more like a series of personal vendettas against people she disliked for personal reasons - usually jealousy because they were classier and better educated than her. But that's not to say the same thing won't happen at a national level. She's a narcissist, not a party hack. It's all about HER.

Just like the OP said, "my biggest fear is she will be able to bullshit the gullible in America" this is a very real possibility! And it bothers me to even think about it but we have to!

I think Obama could beat her but I am not going to say it is a slam dunk like others are.

Edited on Sun May-29-11 05:53 PM by SkyDaddy7
It looks like she might run...I always thought she would never run & had to know she could not hold her own even in the Republican Debates & the fact she would not be able to hide from the media every time she makes a blunder.

There are many signs she might run but some that seem to say she is not planning that hard...She could be just using folks money to tour the nation in a really nice tour bus while eating up the attention! I would laugh my ass off if she uses all that money to tour around the nation & then does not run!

That would be hilarious!!

be ready whenever an opportunity presents itself to be positive about war on Iran or Lebanon.

31. can you explain "underwritten by PNAC" ?
I'm not saying you're wrong -- but I'd like to see more info about that. I agree that would be a dangerous thing if it's true -- but I've gotten the impression she's not compliant enough, too much of a loose cannon, doesn't like to be managed by others, and has a serious religious agenda behind her ambition. That doesn't seem Pnacky enough for her to be their darling, even if they have the hots for her.

who network for her because she talks the gospel of Dominionism & American Exceptionalism, a.k.a. PNAC knows the kind of people who don't need to be paid, busy little lobbyists and friends of Foreign ROILS/MIC/BushMcChurchCo.

Palin’s public voice is an instrument of great versatility. In a few moments, she can turn from kind to hateful, rational to unhinged. At her best Palin can be folksy and pungent. But she needs outside help to give her voice its national range. For messaging strategy, Palin relies on William Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, and Fred Malek, who was an aide to Presidents Richard Nixon and George H. W. Bush. The lawyer Robert Barnett, the most successful literary agent in Washington—his clients range from Hillary Clinton to Dick Cheney to Tony Blair—negotiated Palin’s reported $7 million advance for Going Rogue, and he helps oversee her speaking schedule, which is arranged by the Washington Speakers Bureau. The small inner circle that shapes Palin’s voice day to day includes lobbyist Randy Scheunemann, a director of the neoconservative think tank Project for the New American Century, who advises Palin on foreign affairs, and Kim Daniels, a lawyer with the Thomas More Law Center, which has been called “the Christian answer to the A.C.L.U.,” who advises her on domestic issues. Palin’s speechwriter is Lindsay Hayes. Doug McMarlin and Jason Recher, both of whom did advance work for George W. Bush, serve as body men and confidants. Both Hayes and Recher were on Palin’s 2008-campaign road team, . . . Text

21. I know that it is never wise to underestimate political opponents
and I get what has oft been said about Reagan and especially George W. Strangely, though, I actually thought that both of them seemed at least a little more intelligent/accomplished than Palin is, however. Both of them were Governors and re-elected and neither of them just up and quit their jobs suddenly either. Palin is a quitter, grifter, her grasp of the issues is paper-thin, and she is barely coherent. Why anybody takes her seriously is beyond. If she runs and wins the nomination by some miracle, the differences between her and President Obama will be laid so bare in the first debate that it will be impossible for the M$M to ignore it, spin it, cover it up, etc. IMHO.

8. KnR - good point there
I'm thinking about what the persuadable voters who actually think, think about this POS actually running...a government? A country? The piece on her on Politico about the chaos and circus of her "bus tour...". Sorry - anyone with half a brain or more (and does this describe the 20% in the middle, the undecided "independents"? -- surely, some of them anyway...) will not be impressed or convinced.

And there's no turning back, no redeeming her image or persona. It just keeps getting worse. I for one can't WAIT till the sharks start circling. Hope Couric is back in business, come the primaries!

savor what is most likely going to happen in the Rethug race - for one, we're going to get to watch some Rethugs really squirm in trying to figure out how to deal with her. Not only that, I think we are going to get to see some white, male, conservatives really expose themselves in ways that remind people how they really are (misogynistic, sexist and still stuck in the 1800's) and while doing so, get to really see an entertaining show and we should enjoy it as much as we can.

20. There's NOTHING to enjoy about Palin. Too much support from the stupids.
The fact that she polls second to Romney as the GOP nominee choice is disturbing enough.

The fact that her ticket got 40+ million votes in 2008 is bad. It means there are a hell of a lot of gullible people out there.

And don't think for a minute that the media will help a Democrat. They fell over themselves giving her attention, and you'll be in for a rude surprise to see how much they try to prop up her nothingness.

People need to relax a bit and relish what is about to start if she actually tosses her hat in the ring. The Rethuglicans are going to implode. The "serious" candidates are going to be freaking out how to deal with this oxygen vacuum. These people are going to be running around like ants with their pants on fire. It's going to be a real show.

All ready we are seeing the "real" conservative pundits start to freak out. It's only going to get better.

The Republican Party deserves Sarah Palin. They've appealed to the nut jobs for so long and now they can get the stink off from them. Palin is a joke and has no chance against Obama, but their worst fear is what kind of Primary canpaign she'll run against the Mitt. You know it will be all about his faith and that he's not like them.

McCarthyism, or some weird amalgam of both. But I agree with you 100% that the Repukes deserve her; she's payback for their 30 years of hateful demagoguery.

36. Are you even starting to see what is going on?
The other day one poll found many, many people are having great buyer's remorse over the mid-terms.

Numerous Rethuglican governors are polling that they'd lose if the election was over.

Palin hasn't even announced yet and all ready, the Wills, Frums, and the like are all ready sharpening their knives. Even Rove is getting warmed up. And it's going to get worse for her. Imagine what a debate is going to be like.

Not only that, when the male conservatives start choking on the lack of attention, even another complexion of the campaign will start to emerge. We're going to see them start to show even more truth about their real selves. What is going to be even more interesting is how the female conservatives react to the sexist bloodletting by their male heroes.

are going to see until the election. Bachmann will get some attention, but it is Palin the media loves and wants. The other republican "candidates" are out of it now.

She is living the character Windrip in the novel "It Can't Happen Here" by Sinclair Lewis and we are seeing it develop now.

There is nothing to enjoy about her. I know what you are getting at. The more publicity she gets the better it is for our side politically. But it's too high a price to pay to have someone like her get attention on the national stage. I want her to just go away and never come back.
