CNN's Ali Velshi lead in: Republicans say the CFPB lacks transparency and accountablity

Does the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau lack transparency and accountability? The answer is NO. Will CNN inform the public of the truth?

This 'lack of transparency and accountability' is why the Republicans say they are going to block the nomination of anyone to head the agency. They do not like that the agency will be independent and they will have no control over its funding. And make no mistake, it is financial institutions Republicans represent in Congress--not the people.

Without a director, the CFPB cannot regulate pay day loan companies, debt collectors, mortgage companies, or any other non-bank financial institutions.

We need a media that does more than repeat Republican lies, without question. It is the media which needs to hold them accountable.
