Boehner to GOP: Don't let Obama divide us

House Speaker John Boehner told House Republicans on Sunday that President Obama and Democrats want to lift the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling with as few budget cuts as possible, and the GOP must stay united to stop them.

Boehner also did not provide details of his own plan for major spending cuts while lifting the debt limit, but would try to provide them tomorrow.

The speaker, who is negotiating with Senate leaders, told colleagues they have an opportunity to cut "trillions" from the budget, but "we need (a) vehicle that can pass" in both chambers. Boehner also said, "no one is willing to default," but Republicans can "win" the debate "if we stick together."

"I do think there is a path," Boehner is quoted as saying in a e-mail provided by Republicans. "But it's gonna require us to stand together as a team."

"It's gonna require some of you to make some sacrifices," the GOP speaker added. "If we stand together as a team, our leverage is maximized, and they have to deal with us. If we're divided, our leverage gets minimized."

2. That bipartisanship theory of Obama's really didn't work out so
well. Of course, anyone not a Republican or a fool knew it wouldn't work.

17. Actually, it very well could be that as much as the tea party is dividing the GOP..
...Obama's insistence in constantly inviting the GOP to the bipartisan table, is doing the same to the group not so inclined to Tea party philosophy. Seriously, some individuals want to work with Obama, while the GOP is telling them they had better not even look in Obama's direction. GOP is splintered into many factions.

3. Translation: he has no control over the TeaBaggers.
He,s trying to sweet talk them into voting for some revenue increases.

I don't think that crowd is reachable. They are aching to default.

15. IMO, he wants the GOP House to stand together on forcing the default. That was the
original goal. So far it is working for him and the teabaggers.

18. I'd like to believe this bodes well for us...
but unfortunately I know better. The pukes always manage to find unity when it comes to sticking it to Obama and the American People and they will here as well.
