Kerry: Norquist Is The '13th Member' Of Super Committee Without Being There
Kerry: Norquist Is The '13th Member' Of Super Committee Without Being There (TPMLivewire)

Sen. John Kerry on CNN says Grover Norquist — and his no-new-taxes pledge — has been the “13th member” of the deficit super committee without “being there.” The deficit super committee is expected today to announce its failure to reach a deal. Kerry remains the most optimistic, saying the committee members are “still working.”

The Hill

On Sunday, Democratic supercommittee co-chairman Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said GOP members were too "enthralled" by their pledge to Norquist to negotiate in good faith.

On NBC's Meet the Press, supercommittee member Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) blasted Norquist’s pledge. "I hear about this pledge - a pledge to a lobbyist that gets in the way of us living up to that sacrifice," he said. "I took a pledge. My pledge is to the Constitution of the United States."

6. Wow - Norquist is so transparent in striking back - and ineffecual
This is a Hill article speaking of Norquist on Fox slamming the Democrats back - but, his argument was completely destroyed in advance by the Democrats in this case. For those who usually do not look at the Hill - it usually has commenters that really lean to the right. Not this time.

A friend of my stated that yesterday put the two parties' different visions in sharp focus. He may be more right than me that more people are beginning to see it.

But, the comments are worth scanning through here - http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/194767-norquist-gop-wasnt-fooled-into-raising-taxes (For me, it is noteworthy that though Kerry is mentioned, there are not the usual RW smears - to me, I doubt they hate Kerry any less, so it is a measure of their concern about Norquist's role. (Could he be the Rasputin who becomes a liability to the Republicans, who they can not dump because he is too deeply needed by soem of them?)

9. kerry and left are wrong on this. norquist ain't shit w/out team limbaugh. those republicans rely on
the UNCHALLENGED talk radio megaphone creating the constituency for the republican pukes to point to to excuse their defense of the poor overburdened 1%.

it's limbaugh/hannity more than norquist keeping the republicans in line, with fox filling in with visuals.

12. Did you even read the op
Sometimes it helps to be able to actually see differences. The Democrats on the committee were varied and included representation for the House progressive caucus.

You might also consider just what Kerry and the others are doing on news shows today. You might notice that in spite of media bias they are getting out that the Republicans wanted to actually LOWER the taxes of the wealthiest - on a committee that was tasked to reduce the deficit. They have done a pretty good job, but apparently they did not break through your wall of anger.

14. he was on CNN earlier for his 20 minute free commercial
he just ran through his script without any challenge from the so called, whatchamacallits there at CNN.

Later on Erin whatshername was so infuriated at the partisanship of 'both' the democrats and republicans she dusted off old Howard Beale and played him to her audience. She ain't gunna take it no more, that Erin.

I about felt nauseous for CNN to use that clip now, or a any time because they obviously just don't get what Howard was talkinga bout. That clip could have made a much better point when all of them at the station were tonguing Bush's anus in prep for the Iraq invasion.

I'm ill. Think I'll go get a beer.
