1. I'm sure that if a lifeboat goes out to 100 drowning people and picks up 20--
--that those 20 are delighted. But why would anyone expect the other 80 to stand up and cheer? (That said, we don't want Reupblicans to put a hole in the lifeboat wither.)

6. That's the purpose of the mandate, to get all 100
except for those who refuse to get in the boat.

16. If all 100 are of equal value as human beings, why in goddam hell
--are they divided into platinum, gold, silver and bronze people? The plan is to let 10 or 20 drown anyway, but make them give their money to mass murderers first.

2. It's not "Obamacare".
That's an idiotic label that has been applied to the health care bill by the right wing. Move On should certainly be aware of that.

3. If we can turn that label into something good
Its a major win against the right wing trying to make everything good into a curse word.

7. don't think MoveOn labeled it...
it was the writer that didn't use the proper term "Affordable HealthCare Act..."

8. and even THAT's not the proper term. My healthcare (at $1200/mo) is
no where near affordable. :hi:

10. I like what Obama called it.
Insurance Finance Reform. That being said, I call it Obamacare, he's the one who pushed for the legislation.

13. yup...
thats what mine was before I dropped it

the "Affordable HealthCare act..." helps me in no way... I have not had healthcare for 3+ years when after BCBS getting approx. $20,000/per year from me, gave me grief over just a handful of very small claims, I said no more... I will gladly pay whatever it costs to provide care for myself, children and fellow neighbors and citizens, etc... to the single payer system...

healthcare should never be managed by for-profit agencies

I will pay Vermont whatever they ask once their system is in place... to know that my kids and neighbors can be cared for

4. is this supposed to be a real document?
something that some actual health insurance consumer actually received, or an illustration of the benefits of the health reform legislation?

Was it composed by an actual health insurance company employee, or by a pro-reform activist, or by a PR person at HHS or the White House, or by someone in the Obama campaign?

Or does it matter?

11. If you follow the Reddit link, you can see that it is a scanned .png
of a real document, and you can see in the first paragraph that it is from BCBST - Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee. And being from an actual insurance company showing actual coverage, I think it does make quite a difference.

And, personally, I would like to see R's wearing the term "Obamacare" around their necks like an albatross.

12. Maybe the law's doing some good. Not sure if it was the law..
or not, but my parents' Aetna plans actually decreased in price, and mine didn't increase by as much as first thought. It still needs major improvements like a public option (though I prefer a single payer system).

14. The problem with most of the reforms in the health care act is
that they are not affordable.

I can keep my 2 children going on 25 years old on my insurance if I'm willing to pay $24,000 a year. That's more than either of them make in a year. They are healthy young and have no medical problems. This is insane.

15. Amd what would the act have become IF Obama.......
had fought for single payer instead of compromising that away IMMEDIATELY?

That said, a little good is better than no good.
