faux is running with the Usama spelling of his name....WTF???

2. His name is Usama but the US changed it to Osama so that his name wouldn't start
with USA.

That's what I read years ago.

My guess would be that Usama is the official name the FBI uses, while Osama is usually listed as a alias.

7. I think the correct spelling is in Arabic
Anything in Roman characters is a phoenetic translation. Look at how many spellings there are for Gaddhafi, Khadafy, Qaddafi, Atari, whatever his name is.

6. Arabic has no direct translation to English
so we have to sound out the name to the best of our ability. That is why Gaddaffi's name has so many spellings.
