2. The Presidential race is still well over a year away.

Someone will be the Republican nominee. Maybe that someone will fully understand that he or she has as close to zero chance of being elected as has ever been possible, but there will be a nominee.

Plus, with the election of 2012 over a year away, a lot can happen between now and then.
