Please, oh please tell me how he was supposed to be captured alive!
I'd love to hear it and I'm sure many others would as well.

Please explain the military logistics of getting that motherfucker alive? And putting him on trial. And the jurisdiction prosecuting him for the crimes he was going to be on trial for? And how that security would have been paid for and handled. Just explain this. Please do. I'm dying to hear it.

Because I know he wasn't going to be captured alive and I'm sure his die hard followers weren't going to allow that either.

But go ahead and just spout your disingenuous bullshit about how fucking sad and ashamed you are.

Imagine the bonanza of info he had.

10. Not really.
None of us were there and there are not that many details right now.

Probably was a pretty violent firefight, but we don't really know.

Ideally, he should have been captured alive. Probably wasn't possible.

Details will come out the next few days. I find it very difficult to believe Osama would want to be captured.

33. That's because this is a straw man.
I've heard some people express mild disappointment that he couldn't be captured and tried, but everyone acknowledges that would be a difficult thing to do. Others have stated that it's theoretically wrong to celebrate death, though usually this is followed by a qualifier that they will not mourn his death either. Yet another group, the most negative in response to the news, are upset that this might be seen as "justifying" the war on terror or somehow be used to continue it further. It's only the last group that is really "upset" at the news, and none of them are really upset about him being killed but the possible implications of that. The target of the OP's wrath is some carnival fun-house version of the combination of the three, a super-Hippie that hates America for, among other things, murdering that poor innocent little Bin Laden chap.

25. Were you?
I don't know exactly how it went down. But I would assume he had some pretty tight security and if someone was trying to capture him, that person would have been fired upon by his bodyguards.

But no I'm sure he was just ready to be taken away in handcuffs like Bernie Maddoff or Jeff Skilling.

24. I don't think your assessment of the situation is realistic
and, while there are plenty of other issues in this whole mess - it's just sort of ridiculous to claim that bin Laden wasn't armed, his guards were not armed - that someone could go in and taser a contingent of armed men who claimed they believed in the value of martyrdom for their cause - the use of which has been his mode of operation?

honestly - is it realistic to think tasers?

I think it's wildly unrealistic.

32. and you are entitled to your opinion
and, no, I wasn't there. if you want to pretend that a military operation against OBL would have tasers instead of deadly weapons, you are entitled to your fantasy as well.

30. Huh? A taser is extremely temporary and doesn't always make contact.
Robed individuals with AKs are going to laugh at tasers. Tasers only really work if you can hit the person, and then have one or two people detain said person. You're saying we needed 3 people for every person in the compound, and each and every one of them were to fire their tasers all at the same time and detain each and every individual.

One day we'll have the technology to do that (mini-drones) but until we have that tech it's infeasible.

No shame for firing back upon persons firing upon his lawful arrestors.
