OH MY GOD!!! Did you all catch the two-hour special Apprenctice that was on last night?!!!!
Edited on Mon May-02-11 10:41 AM by Snoutport
I believe, ladies and gentleman, that last night we saw a political Dunkshot.

Consider this: During the last month, as the righties started ramping up their election machine. Obama was getting pounded by Birthers and Donald Trump. He took out the birthers with the certificate but The Donald was still donalding and hadn't backed down. At the Press Corp Dinner we saw Obama lay into Trump in a way that I've never seen a President lay into a public figure/candidate. When Trump left he was forced to walk a total walk of shame to leave the event. Even better, the corporate media actually began to go after a Republican candidate for a change. In fact, the tone of everything sort of changed.

And then the announcement of Osama Bin Laden's death. 10:30 Eastern. Anyone who watches Survivor or Big Brother or Apprentice knows that the dynamite is allpacked into the last 30 minutes. As TV after TV on the east coast tuned in to hear Obama, the show started in the midwest. 10:30 became 10:45 with more TVs tuning in... by the time President took the podium the East Coast had forgotten all about the Donald and the TVs of the midwest began flipping over to watch Obama...and then the west coast. What does that mean? It means that NBC, a big supporter of the Donald, lost a two hour prime time slot. The advertisers on the Apprentice forked out big bucks only to air their commercials to empty space. The timing of this announcement not only gut-punched Trump but took big swings at his biggest supporters.

If you still don't see the importance let me put it this way: the eyes of the media and American turned away from the usurper and cried "All hail the King. Long live the King."

2012 just got wrapped up with a real nice pretty bow. Ready for a blue wave? I am.

1. It is the only part that seems "fishy" to me
Can you almost imagine Mr. Obama saying, "Hey, let's kill the bastard this Sunday so I can interrupt Mr. Hair's show with the news."

That part may be even more satisfying than just getting the SOB.

2. I highly doubt that Donald Fucking Trump's Freaktime Sideshow entered into the equation AT ALL.
I think our President is a more serious man than that.

25. It isn't a matter of petty...it COULD be a matter of a shot across the bow of the SS Trump.
It is my opinion that Trump has been blathering on and on about running with no intention whatsoever of running. My belief is he's been bad mouthing the president for ratings.

I believe President Obama is a very VERY smart man. To think he had no idea Trump's show was on is hard to believe. I think he sent a very clear message to Trump. Being the president is very serious business...much more serious than running an empire based on name and helming a TV show that depends on ratings. With the release of the birth certificate and subsequent attacks on trump at the dinner Obama made it very clear that if what was important to Trump was name and ratings, that Obama was willing to fight on those levels. Trump's name got dragged through the mud and his ratings were severely cut into. There is no clearer message possible for the Donald.

But, please, I'm not saying Obama planned the whole thing to mess up the ratings. Not at all, but I do believe that he sees the big picture and knew that by scheduling his announcement the way he did, it would cut into Donald's ratings. And I, for one, hope they got a heck of a lot of satisfaction out of it.

(or...the planets just aligned in a really awesome way and it was all chance...that works for me too)

10. Exactly...serious matters should NEVER require the Machiavellian political antics of a Karl Rove.
Too bad that's all this nation got from the Bush machine.

11. Agreed. I don't think Obama deliberately timed it that way. He has more important things
to strategize about. This was just a rawther exquisite coincidence I think. Just the serendipity of timing. Collateral damage. Unexpected icing on the cake. Also Karma. With a Capital K. Man - when it comes around, IT COMES AROUND! Whew!

16. What you said +1
Yep..... the President is serious when it's time for serious matters

The Universe joined in.

I think there's a lot of meaning in synchronicity, especially Big Deals like this. (and don't forget, Anniversary of Captain Codpiece's "Mission Accomplished" photo-op theatrics as well!)

Powerful stuff here.

24. I'm not saying for sure if he planned the announcement...but to think they had no idea trump was on
during that time slot is hard to believe.

But, even if they had no idea Trump's show was airing, there is still the matter of the Press Corp Dinner and how Obama has managed the birther/trump issue the past couple of weeks. He's a quiet man but when he fights, he FIGHTS. In my opinion.

4. There's no doubt in my mind that Obama's speech was delayed
for this very stragetic maneuver. The White House played this like a very find violin. You just know the Donald was fuming.

5. Agrred, at this point, for Obama to lose, he would have to get caught
lifting change purses from little old ladies in wheelchairs at a retirement home, while simultaneously passing out Korans that were written in the blood of American soldiers, and having sex with an under-age chicken, in a church, on Easter.

He'd have to get caught having sex with a dead woman or a live boy.

9. They didn't cut in until 9:45, the Board Room money shot
NBC did a little "breaking news" item at 9:30 (central time), but that was right at a commercial break & afterwards, they went back to the show. I kept flipping between NBC & MSNBC, & all MSNBC had on were talking heads. It wasn't until they got a "firm" 2 minute warning (that turned into another 45 minute wait) that they cut off "Celebrity Apprentice."

Of course, the last 15 minutes is where the drama always is & when Trump "fires" someone. Last night's episode was supposed to be one of the most dramatic board room confrontation scenes ever, & just when Nene got all wound up, they switched over to David Gregory.

22. er, no, the show ran as usual until 9:30 (central)
since it started at 8, I wouldn't say the show was "suspended for the evening."

12. Poppy Bush also thought he was a shoo in
after Gulf War I. Remember we have a long time before November 2012, and people's memories are short. If OBL was so damn important, Why didn't we elect Kerry?
