4. He's as sober as a judge today.
Damn - a President with actual dignity.

I remember thinking last night - "the adults really are back in charge."

6. I had the same thoughts...
Dignity... it just feels good even typing that word in relation to the POTUS.

7. Makes me feel like standing tall. Utter dignity.
I put my "Obama '08" yard sign back out in the front yard this morning. REALLY proud of him and some downright elegant behavior.

8. His ability not to be a reactionary is one of my favorite things about his demeanor...
He is a hell of a lot stronger than I could ever be.

9. Man is that ever true. He's a hell of a lot stronger than I could ever be, too.
They say you rise to the occasion. I dunno - this one's hard. There's part of me that wants to hoot and holler and high-five all over the place, and pour myself what the great Hawkeye Pierce once described as "a nice tall glass of gloat." But there's another part of me that wants to go contemplative and quiet. My first thought on 9/11 when it became clear this was a terrorist attack was - "what could we possibly have done that's so awful that somebody wants to do this to us?" Now I'm sure I'll be burned at the stake for "coddling terrorists" and being empathetic and all those things dick cheney would sneer at.

Also, every person who was directly involved - either they lost a loved one or a close friend, or they worked that day but weren't injured, or they lived and/or worked there or near there - speaks with great gravity and humility and solemnity about it. There's no hooting. They're too close to the pain of it. And they bring a poignant dignity to this event. Makes me think - how would THEY react? And of course the way our President has behaved. Look up class and dignity in the dictionary (or Google it) and his picture will be there.

That said, it would have been intoxicating to be there outside the White House or in Manhattan where everybody was celebrating and going nuts, and people were cheering and singing and waving flags. It's been a rather celebratory weekend just anyway. Amazing mood extender from what started in London early last Friday morning!!!
