Repubs response: Ignore/Slam Obama.....
SARAH PALIN: "Americans tonight are united in celebration and gratitude. God bless all the brave men and women in our military and our intelligence services who contributed to carrying out the successful mission to bring Bin Laden to justice and who laid the groundwork over the years to make this victory possible. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of these brave Americans who relentlessly hunted down our enemy.

Sarah Palin couldn't bring herself to mention President Obama.

TIM PAWLENTY: "This is terrific news for freedom and justice. In the hours after the 9/11 attacks, President Bush promised that America would bring Osama bin Laden to justice — and we did. I want to congratulate America's armed forces and President Obama for a job well done. Let history show that the perseverance of the US military and the American people never wavered. America will never shrink from the fight and ultimately those who seek to harm us face only defeat. Today, justice is done, but the fight against radical Islamic terrorism is not yet over."

TPaw had to bring up Bush, before Obama.

And then of course there's right wing media..

Right-Wing Media Accuse Obama Of Making Bin Laden Death All About Himself
30 minutes ago — 14 Comments

Immediately following President Obama's announcement that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden had been killed in Pakistan, right-wing media took every opportunity to attack the president for his actions and remarks regarding the mission that led to bin Laden's death. Conservative media outlets and personalities have declared that the death of the world's most famous terrorist was just another opportunity for the president to "strut like peacock" and make it all about himself.
Right-Wing Media: It's All About Obama

Geller Accused Obama Of "Shamelessly Strut Like
Peacock." In a May 2 blog post, Pamela Geller wrote: "Gd bless our troops. Obama can puff himself and shamelessly strut like peacock , but hats off to the US military that has been relentless, dogged and brave for ten years in their mission to kill that devout bastard."

Wash. Times: Obama's Speech About Bin Laden Was "Consistent With His View That Everything Is About Him." In a May 2 column, Washington Times editorial page editor Brett Decker wrote that Obama's statement about bin Laden's death "made it clear that the campaign season for his 2012 reelection bid is fully underway" and was "consistent with his view that everything is about him." Decker later wrote that "in Laden's death is more Mr. Bush's victory than Mr. Obama's." From Decker's column:

3. All the talking points are being laid out on Limbaugh today

- Obama didn't have hardly anything to do with this, didn't pick the team, yada yada yada
- He merely finished the glorious work of Bush
- Only did it to boost his 2012 chances - Osama would be alive today if Obama was not worried about re-election
- Scheduled it deliberately to pre-empt Trump's show.
- He said "I" way to many times in his speech and gave no credit to others.

Republican leaders -- from former President George W. Bush, to House Speaker John Boehner, on down the line -- are expressing the same sentiment as ordinary Americans. The feeling: thank goodness for the death of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, Politico reports. And some GOP heavies had praise for President Barack Obama for his role in going after the mastermind terrorist.
Bush
“Earlier this evening, President Obama called to inform me that American forces killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al-Qaida network that attacked America on September 11, 2001,” he said in a statement.

“I congratulated him and the men and women of our military and intelligence communities who devoted their lives to this mission. They have our everlasting gratitude.”

Cheney
Bush’s Vice President Dick Cheney also was complimentary to Obama. He called the killing “a victory for the United States and a tremendous achievement for the military and intelligence professionals who carried out this important mission,” Politico reports.
“I also want to congratulate President Obama and the members of his national security team.”

But Cheney cautioned that the threat from al-Qaida isn’t over. “Al-Qaida remains a dangerous enemy. Though bin Laden is dead, the war goes on,” he said. “We must remain vigilant.”
Boehner

Boehner pointed to the role of both Bush and Obama in capturing bin Laden. “This is great news for the security of the American people and a victory in our continued fight against al-Qaida and radical extremism around the world,” he said in a statement.
