Good for you, Anderson Cooper!
Just heard him tell the wheezing wolf blitzer that he would NOT play the bin laden tape on any of his shows - he'd report on it but not play it. blitzer said there's this tape that was to be played upon his death and he did speak about a deluge of tweets and emails and other appeals from listeners begging them not to play the tape. I agree! If you want to see it there are places to find it. Let's not reward bad behavior - AGAIN.

2. Of course.
If this is really something to 'celebrate,' we should continue to act to dilute his influence and NOT broadcast his propaganda.

4. Yep, caught that. And also appreciated airing the opinions from experienced intelligence sources
that someone in Pakistan's ISI / military *had* to know bin Laden was in country, in that location.

5. WH officials were saying that bin Laden's network would prove...
his death by releasing pre-recorded tapes of UBL. They did not elaborate as to how these would prove his death but that's what they were saying.

6. Not to mention, something could be encoded in it.
Rather tinfoilish, but I wouldn't chance it. There can't be anything important he'd have to say.

7. I heard that it's just him singing his favorite selection of Saudi
folksongs (no dancing though).

8. Right, the role of a journalist is to hide stuff
That fits the new world order, for sure.

10. There was a panel discussion about this on - I think - CNN, where the question was
when do you feed a story and when do you starve a story? The subject pertained to the whole birther thing and how its mushrooming into a monster was in a large part because of voracious media attention. This is a story I'd starve. Nerves are too raw - both ours AND theirs. What good is it? What real good would it do? What might it incite? When do we throw water on a fire and when do we throw gasoline? What serves the public's right to know? I mean - let's be up front about this - we KNOW what kind of shit he's gonna say. We know. That's sufficient. It can be reported ON. Reporters can file three-minute-or-however-long packages about the release of the final bin Laden tape. There can be audio and video clips and voice-over translation. Excerpts within the reports. Anchorpeople talking about it at length. Talk show talk about it at length. But I wouldn't run the whole thing.

Besides I just frickin' HATE reinforcing or rewarding bad behavior!

Just my two-cents there, though.

9. What is the point of not playing it?
We are in the information age now, there is no way to hide Bin Laden's final communique. Anyone who wants to hear it can.

If Anderson won't play the tape, I will just listen to it elsewhere - just like everyone else.
