So what now about Pakistan? Does anyone believe they didn't know about Bin Laden's pad?

This is tough. They have nuclear (or as Bush would say, nucular) weapons. Still, it's obvious that the gigantic home of Bin Laden had to be known to Pakistani authorities. This is not good. That cannot be ignored. I'm not sure what we should do, but I don't think we can take a pass on this one.

They have a faction in their government that is friendly with terrorists. The difference is their terrorist friends have and will use violence and our terrorists have not used violence yet but probably will in the future when the realize they are hated and will never win again.

We have enough on our hands already. Even if Pakistan was protecting bin Laden, which they deny by the way.

they just can't say it.

They have spoiled operations in the past according to my tv.

Also, don't forget that Musharraf has previously stated that Osama died a long time ago. Why would Pak help us find a dead man as I am sure Musharraf left a note in the desk telling the new guy how it works.

Pervez is probably trying to figure out if he is still going to receive his monthly retainer from Osama.

But certainly there are people there who either sympathize with Bin Laden, or just want to hedge their bets.

That bin Laden was hiding out in a residential neighborhood less than 1000 ft from the Pakistani Military Academy for years.

"You have some splaining to do." SOME knew in Pakistan, and those "some" must have some high ranking. Whether the top political leadership knew is in question and how they may skate retribution.

It is a rat's nest of duplicity and greed. I miss Holbrooke.

Some in Pakistan probably knew. Most didn't.

that they did not know he was living there. There was a military academy within a mile of this enclosure. They lived there for years. And if the government of Pakistan did not know anything about him living there, they are clueless.

But what should we do about it? An even bigger problem. I do think that all the money we have been pouring into that country should be curtailed to a fraction of what it is. We had a tenuous relationship with them prior to this, even with all of our support. I have no doubt that they are furious with us for coming into Pakistan. I am waiting for them to chastise us. And when that happens, it is time to stop the money train. We do not have to consider any attacks or wars with Pakistan, a stupid move. But we do not have to continue to support them anymore. They are not our friends.

a reduction in aid ... or they give the US more latitude in use of airspace etc ....

just my opinion. I think our relations with Pakistan are very tenuous.

I also read that one mad tried to alert someone that Bin Laden was in the area and was beheaded for it. And that the police were in on it.

That over the years Bin Laden would travel around and pay a huge sum of money to the village leader and then by Tribal Law they were obligated to protect their "guest".
