CNN is absolutely OBSESSED with putting ex-Bush officials on the air to blunt credit from going to Obama for the take-down of Bin Laden. It seems that credit MUST be shared because CNN is the great BS equalizer. Today alone, I've noted interviews with Paul Wolfowitz, Ari Fleischer, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld, and even clips from Dick Cheney. Have I left anyone out?
What is the point? I can understand getting an occasional response from someone, but they are featuring these people as if CNN has an agenda. Note to CNN: Bush and his team FAILED to get Bin Laden. They publicly gave up on it as it served their interests to keep fear alive. Fear was the great motivating tool used on Americans to put into place the policies the Bush administration wanted, to funnel money into the pockets of their cronies, and to manipulate people into handing them power over their lives.
The Bush administration let Bin Laden slip through Tora Bora. Bush stated in a famous press conference that "he truly wasn't all that concerned" about Bin Laden. In 2005, Bush pulled the plug on the special CIA unit dedicated to finding Bin Laden -- the same year that Bin Laden moved into his Abbottabad estate. And through all of this, they played the Shock Doctrine to the hilt.
CNN, if you are going to continue to give former Bush administration officials a platform to crow over the success of their utter incompetence, perhaps you should bring up a few journalistic facts about those years. Otherwise, you are only willingly serving the false narrative that was so carefully crafted by these conmen, crafted as a deception, and have surrendered the journalistic search for truth for a defense of official doctrine.
