Dem WINS! WI special election takes assembly seat held by (R) for 16 years!

Wisconsin Democrats appear to have kept the momentum from their occupation of Madison, as Steve Doyle defeated Republican John Lautz for the Wisconsin District 94 Assembly, flipping a seat held by Republicans for 16 years.

The race largely focused attention on Gov. Scott Walker's union-busting efforts and plans to privatize a significant amount of the state's public services.

Doyle was declared the winner late Tuesday evening. With about 92 percent of the precincts reporting, Doyle was the projected winner with 54 percent of the vote to Lautz's 46.

Mike Huebsch previously held the seat until Gov. Walker appointed him to serve as his secretary of administration. Huebsch had held the seat since 1994 and was a strong supporter of Gov. Walker and his initiatives.

They have just found an extra 15 million uncounted ballots that were erroneously left in the trunk of Walker's car.

not that I want to be a downer... but they hold 59 seats and we hold 39. (Assembly). In the Senate, the Reps have 19 and we have 14. We ALL HAVE to VOTE on July 12 - the special "recall election" - and oust those Republicans up for recall. There is our next great chance.

The La Crosse area has been consistent in their voting recently having voted big for Kloppenburg with a 40% turnout. Here's hoping we follow through and dump Kapanke because we have a very strong candidate in my own state representative, Jennifer Schilling.
