'Passion' star Jim Caviezel talks about Mel Gibson's troubles, and his own, at Orlando church
April 30, 2011 | By Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel

Actor Jim Caviezel, his voice sometimes cracking with emotion, spoke of being "rejected in my own industry," the problems of his friend Mel Gibson and his son's cancer in an appearance Saturday night at First Baptist Church of Orlando.

The star of "The Passion of the Christ," whom First Baptist pastor David Uth described as "more passionate about God" than anyone he's ever met, was in town to give witness to his faith, to urge others to share it and to sell a new all-star audio production of the Bible that he has produced.

I have an alternative explanation: he's a mediocre actor. I watched one film with him in a leading role: "Frequency". It was great, but he almost ruined it by having the expressiveness of a doorknob.

2. I thought he was alright in 'The Thin Red Line'
For that matter, I thought he did ok in 'Passion' too. He wailed pretty convincingly while being scourged. But he isn't the most expressive actor, though I can think of worse (Bill Paxton being a prime example).

6. Bravo should make a reality show - combining one of those
Master Chef or Cake shows with Caruso and Cage and see who can truly out "chew" the oh so delicious "scenery". :D

5. He's pretty bad, but at least he's been less successful than Bill Paxton
I don't know a whole lot about acting, but I've always thought Paxton was one of the worst out there. Sure, Stallone and Schwarzenegger are bad too, but at least they understand their niches . . . they have mainly done cheesy action flicks and lighthearted comedies where the action and lame gags make up for the bad performances. But Paxton seems to find his way into serious, dramatic roles where his lack of talent is painfully obvious.

7. His constant proselytizing --
on the set of that film drove his co-stars crazy. I remember reading one story wher Sean Penn and John Cusack (?) wanted to stuff him in a garbage can to get him to shut the hell up. :D

14. "...to sell a new all-star audio production of the Bible that he has produced."
I'm guessing this is the motivating factor.
