A glimpse into a RW world...
today, I saw in my office a very nice lady whom I have been treating for about 25 years. she came to me through the kind referral of her husband who was a professor at a local university and also was one of those folk who draft legislation for companies to send to their favorite congressmen and senators in order to get laws passed favorable to the industry/company. He was also on the staff of several very conservative representatives over the years and was on C-SPAN in the background more than a few times during significant testimony. He passed away a few years ago and although we had political differences, he was a true intellect and would discuss issues and make certain concessions and he would basically admit that his was the Party of the Rich and that there was nothing wrong with the rich being represented - which he would say with a laugh when I would counterpunch by saying that they overshadowed the representation of the poor. As they say in the business: He was always nice to me.

So his widow came in and wanted to show me her Bridge Program...I'm a bit of a Bridge fanatic myself so I was interested. But what was REALLY fascinating were the icons on her I-Pad: Newsmax, FOX, Drudge, National Review, American Spectator, Weekly Standard, and the NY Sun among others. she had trouble logging into my network so she kept trying to pull up Newsmax and it kept failing, but she also had articles on the desktop which she was keeping for reference including but not limited to articles about Clinton's murders, Obama's nationality, why Obama couldn't care less about Easter(!), and others. All very natural while she was trying to get into her Bridge program...

Of course, she had to tell me towards the end of the appointment that she was no longer donating to her alma mater because someone from Clinton's cabinet was going to speak at a gathering...not even the Commencement. What I find most interesting about her is that if you met her waiting in line in a supermarket, you'd think she was just one of those wonderfully kind ladies in her early 80's who's vibrant and lively and a real person. But when she talks about immigrants, teachers, minorities, unemployed, or any of the other categories of, in her opinion, miscreants, she gets that guttural, low-pitched tone which I used to reserve for attempting to scare away aggressive dogs.

1. They're out there, lurking, in dental offices, grocery stores,
sometimes on street corners, waiting for the Walk light.
You should try living here. Great climate, but many zombies.

2. Yikes. It is scary, but I have the feeling that she would say the same
about me if she saw my computer. She would be saying "She appears to be a nice lady, but OMG all the liberal crap."

I really wish that people would try more of that "love thy neighbor as thyself" and "walk a mile in someone's shoes". The hatred just seems to seep into everything that they do and say. I don't know how you kept quiet.

3. I almost always keep quiet
unless there's a hanging curveball over the plate...but even then...

I used to talk a lot, but it wasn't worth losing the patient and got pilloried for it here(!)...

5. No pillory from me. I understand. Besides,
you lose a patient and you also lose the argument....we know you can't win against some people.

And business is business. You have to treat all patients, even if you don't like them much. We all have that.

4. I know people like that
even some in my own family. Nice people, but with politics to the right of Glenn Beck. I try to avoid discussing politics with them mainly because I would end up losing my temper and going off on them when they display their ignorance.
