Bush feels Obama ignoring ex-president's role in Osama Bin Laden strike
George W. Bush won't be at Ground Zero with President Obama Thursday in part because he feels his team is getting short shrift in the decade-long manhunt for Osama Bin Laden.

"(Bush) viewed this as an Obama victory lap," a highly-placed source told the Daily News Wednesday.

-snip-

He doesn't feel personally snubbed and appreciates the invitation, but Obama's claiming all the credit and a lot of other people deserve some of it," the source added.

"Obama gave no credit whatsoever to the intelligence infrastructure the Bush administration set up that is being hailed from the left and right as setting in motion the operation that got Bin Laden. It rubbed Bush the wrong way."

9. It's guilt. He knew he wasn't looking for him and he doesn't want
us to know it. Guilty conscience.

C.I.A. Closes Unit Focused on Capture of bin Laden

By MARK MAZZETTI
Published: July 4, 2006

WASHINGTON, July 3 — The Central Intelligence Agency has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, intelligence officials confirmed Monday.

The unit, known as Alec Station, was disbanded late last year and its analysts reassigned within the C.I.A. Counterterrorist Center, the officials said.

Well, it seems that it was President Obama's priority. Funny what one can accomplish when one puts one's mind to something, isn't it?

4. What the fuck do they expect??
You don't order the CIA to close its special OBL unit nearly 5 years ago and then expect to get credit for his demise.

See? They played a critical role in this operation.

20. RW ignorance of Bush/Bin Laden family ties makes them easy dupes re Bush "Dead or Alive" propagada

No one here likely believes Bush had any interest in going after Osama but rather using 9/11 to pursue the PNAC agenda.

22. Yes, Obama did ignore the fact that Bush halted the search
for bin Laden that Clinton started and then halted his own search curiously around the same time Bin Laden found his refuge under a very suspicious umbrella.
I might add that Obama also ignored the illegal torture techniques Bush/Cheney implemented that have put our nation at further risk.
Anyone who believes there are not more terrorists in the world today due to the actions of Bush/Cheney is delusional.

Considering the source, it isn't necessarily true. But the idea that BushCo deserves any credit at all is ridiculous.

that it wasn't all about HIM.

Everyone trying to give him credit for graciousness by turning down that invitation to Ground Zero? Wrong - he's just pissed.

"intelligence infrastructure the Bush administration set up"

Are you fucking kidding me? That asshole IGNORED the intelligence presented to him at every crucial point along the way! :banghead:

34. I honestly don't believe that Bush feels anyway about this
one way or another.

"The unnamed source" is using this to stir up hatred and resentment for those that are already seething with indignation regarding the fact that a BLACK man had the NERVE to kill the most wanted terrorist in the world.

35. Bush wants credit, well he has take credit for both!!!!
He may deserve some small credit for this but Obama risked his whole presidency on this. If Osama was not there or things went really wrong the republicans would not be crediting George Bush for that failure. George Bush wants credit for all the great things that happened since he left office but none of the bad, his cronies took credit a few months ago saying that the economy stabilizing was due to his policies put into place and Obama was just following through. If he wants credit for this he needs to take FULL responsibility and credit for the complete failure of his economic policies.
