I have yet to hear of anyone clamoring for the White House (or the Pentagon) to release any sort of sources and methods information.
Although, if you stop to think about it for just a moment, we've got at least a dozen pictures of the tail section of what what can be arguably described as a highly-classified, top-secret helicopter design. We also have people like George Stephanopoulos and other, larger news personalities reporting on the details of how the information was relayed back to Washington, DC from Pakistan- helmet cams, satellite relays and all of it being fed by Administration or Pentagon officials to help put some high-tech glitter on the story.
No, all that stuff is already being passed around. It's questions about what happened between the time that one of bin Laden's wives rushed the SEALS and was shot and the time bin Laden was shot which this news lockdown (if that's the right word for it) is putting the kibosh on.
In the official account that the DoD had prepared, while it is a fairly short document, there are a number of things which are gone into detail about. You can read it
HERE. The encounter with bin Laden's wife who was standing in the room with him is described in twice as many words as bin Laden, for instance.
Wife:
In the room with bin Laden, a woman – bin Laden’s wife – rushed the U.S. assaulter and was shot in the leg but not killed.bin Laden:
Bin Laden was then shot and killed. He was not armed. And even this is only causing interest because the U.S. had to insist that it was not on a kill-only mission. If the U.S. had formally announced that it intended to kill bin Laden, no matter what, I don't think anyone interested in the story would care. But, sadly, it's gone from
OBL firing guns and using one of his wives as a human shield to
merely being in the room, unarmed, and being shot. Quite a difference but only, really, raising this level of scrutiny because the U.S. still makes the claim that they intended to capture him if they could.
The story is starting to clarify a bit too quickly, I think, for some people's tastes and since Pakistan is apparently willing to cause a major stink about this, I don't think the White House is keen on the official story and Pakistan's story starting to harmonize, unintentionally. All the accounts, from all the various sources (official and unofficial) are very, very close to each other, only differing in minor ways, if they differ at all.Again:
...if they differ at all.PB
