6. I watched a bit of it
And was surprised that they actually called it a debate. When you ask each candidate a question, allow no commentary from others on that question or the response, then move on to a new question with a new candidate - that simply ain't a debate, its an info-commercial.

And a pisspoor info-commercial at that.

7. Maybe they need to do "The Presidential Apprentice"
Think of the entertainment value! A group of GOP candidates are asked very probing softball questions by Fox News celebrities over the course of 1 hour. At the end of the show, one of them is voted off the podium. They could string it out for 30 weeks...think of the ratings, Rupert!
