3. Practice run is right. And we had better be prepared to defeat all the dirty tricks
of which the Repubs are capable. They'll probably go all out this time.

6. I'm thinking we need a nationwide "Mississippi summer"
The original "Mississippi summer" in 1964 was a project intended to register as many African-Americans as possible. College kids poured into the state to do the grassroots work of helping people over the legal hurdles.

In much the same way, I think we could use a nationwide effort to get voters registered in the states where these bills become law. Volunteers to explain to people why their vote is so important (like, do you think they'd be trying to take it away from you if it wasn't valuable?) and then help them with the necessary paperwork.

If that was done, both this summer and again in the summer of 2012, it could not only fend off some of the worst effects of these laws but also serve as the basis for community organizing and political consciousness-raising.

But if it is to be done, the groundwork needs to be laid starting now.

7. Yes, it's a great idea to have a "Mississippi Summer" starting right now,
and again at this time next year. And we need it badly, I think.

11. I have a meeting this weekend
Strategy for Organizing for America. Believe me, we are serious about voter registration and 2012. Volunteers have been signing up in huge numbers. I think this is going to be a very busy summer for us.

Volunteer Please, we need every single person!

5. Walker is an out and out sociopath. It's exactly people like him who
behave destructively when they have the power of high office.
His conscience doesn't bother him because it is a defective one.
He should be voted out as soon as possible.

9. Yes, I made it a habit of bringing up this topic every now and then.
Haven't seen much enthusiasm so far. If the Repubs are aware pf
this, it probably makes them quite glad.
