I somehow never cease to be amazed by the Right Wing Noise Machine. How active and aggressive it is.

It pretty much seems to be the most persistent propaganda apparatus since Goebbels.

I'm utterly amazed at how ACTIVE it's been since this Bin Laden deal.

Spouting noise in a thousand different directions, often contradictory noise.

It doesn't matter about the contradictions though, as long as you somehow get the overall message that somehow, Obama not only did not do anything good, but actually did something bad. There doesn't have to be any coherent reasoning at all, and there isn't.

-How do we know it happened without the body/release of pictures? It didn't happen.

-It did happen but shouldn't have happened, it was a violation of international law.

-It should have happened but only did because of GWB, he and the military deserve all credit and Obama none!

-Obama is preening and claiming too much credit, doing too many victory laps (hello "Mission Accomplished" aircraft carrier landing)

-Look how often he used "I" in his speech! Even though he used "we" much more!

-It's horrible how he showed so much respect to the body (apparently we should have dragged it through the streets with a pickup truck)!

-Now we're much less safe because those Muslims gonna retaliate! (I KNOW this must be getting pimped on RW airwaves because I'm hearing it from people who have no other source for the "thoughts" in their head)

-It's a coup where Obama didn't really want it to happen but was overruled by his CIA/military even though we have no evidence whatsoever for this! THEY deserve all the credit for something that never should have happened/didn't happen!

I suppose at the bottom of all this is the fact that this event shatters the core of the Right Wing Belief System, where GOPers are the adults who take care of shit and make you safe, and Democrats and liberals are not only incapable of keeping you safe, not competent enough, but they are actively and secretly on the side of the nation's enemies trying to bring it down!

So when something momentous like this happens where not only did their guys NOT succeed at it, but our guy DID, and furthermore, our guy who has spent a few years now painted as the Alien Kenyan Secret Muslim Commie Usurper secretly in league with Al Qaeda, it totally goes against all the core beliefs, and that reality MUST be resisted in any way possible.

Hence we see this incredible outpouring of ungracious spin, which seems to actually defy gravity at times.

I sometimes think liberals/progressives are deers in the headlights. It is so hard to believe/process the boldfaced lack of rationality, it seems imo surreal though I know intellectual on an intellectual level it's real and dangerous.
