Town of Wheaton (WQOW) - Saturday morning, one lake will certainly see crowds for the fishing opener. Governor Scott Walker will be among them, drawing his own attention.

The governor's opener put on a sporting fair in the Town of Wheaton Friday afternoon to celebrate the start of a new season. Walker was there and Saturday plans to fish on Lake Wissota.

Protesters plan to hold an event of their own. They're calling it the Wisconsin Workers' Fishing Opener. The governor says he's willing to share the lake.

"If a handful of folks want to make this about something political, that's up to them," Walker says. "For me, for most people who fish and hunt in this state, it's the whole reason we go to get away from it all. Whether it's politics, business or anything else, we go to just enjoy the water, good times and good friends. That's what we're going to do tomorrow as well."

Hundreds of protesters are expected on the lake and on shore. Law enforcement and the DNR will step up boat patrols, but they're not expecting any trouble. Organizers of the governor's opener and its activities are staying focused on what the event is about.................

3. The town of Wheaton and Wissota Lake are just north of Eau Claire...
....hopefully some DU members can be on hand to tell the Gov what we think of his stance on allowing industry to pollute our waters.

Here's more on the Wissota Lake...
