RIP Seve. A Standing Golf-Clap in your honor.

I know some DU'ers are not at all fond of the game of Golf, and many think golfers shouldn't make millions for playing a game, but the game and the world lost a True Gentleman today.

Seve Ballesteros died at 54, much younger than anyone should. He was handsome, charismatic, athletic, and possessed of a grace few of us would even recognize.

RIP Seve. Your autograph is one of my most treasured...

1. Loved him. So majestic, so handsome, so kind. Bless you, Seve.
"I know DU'ers in general hate the game of Golf"~~~I don't think this is called for, or even accurate, though.

2. Edited. Maybe I was a little harsh and defensive...
But I have seen some stuff posted about Golf and Golfers that rivals that of what I sometimes see about NASCAR and its fans.

One of the few. RIP.

As an environmentalist, I dislike the proliferation of golf courses.

However, golf like tennis, track, swimming, etc are valuable sports as long as things do not get out of hand, and there is sensible use of land. I have swum in large public pools, played golf and tennis in the past. I have given that all up for simple walking, nowadays.

4. The real pioneer in what became the international takeover of the PGA tour
Now that it appears that the Tiger Woods era is behind us and in the absence of any charismatic US golfers it appears that Europeans and other international players are beginning to dominate events in the US.

Seve Ballesteros was the first European golfer to really capture the attention of US fans.

And he played with a flair and daring that few American tour pros can duplicate even today.

K & R your RIP for a true legend.

5. While we may not be a collective fan of Golf.
We are generally fans of good men.
Seve Ballesteros was a good man.
And that man, could play some fucking golf.
