Maybe Bin Laden has always been about Pakistan.
Well we were wondering why Bush seemed to stop looking for Bin Laden. It now seems possible that maybe Bush did it to prevent exposing Pakistan as using Bin Laden to force us to give them aid as a government failure supposedly would put nukes in al Qaeda's hands. Without Bin Laden and Al Qaeda as bogeyman, our incentives to aid Pakistan are less. But with Bin Laden and Al Qaeda Pakistan becomes too big to fail.

Obama was willing to push the issue and has now shown Pakistan for what it is, a protector and possible enabler of terrorism.

I would be curious how much of this is an effort to confront and expose Pakistan or if we have just walked into it.

3. Think back to the 2000 debates:
When asked about foreign policy, Pervez Musharraf - who had recently 'won' the election in Pakistan - was the only leader Bush could coherently name & match leader to place. I think the BFEE/MIC's hands have been dirty re: Pakistan for a very long time.

4. Well that is a new twist.
All I know is looking back at Hillary's comments, there is a lot more to Pakistan than I realized.
