Conservative Media Bias: Bush Officials Outnumber Obama 6 to 1 On Sunday Shows
The Sunday morning talk shows are fully embracing their conservative media bias by celebrating the one week anniversary of the death of Bin Laden with shows chocked full of Republican guests.

Here is this week’s Sunday talk show guest line up by program:

Meet the Press (NBC): Tom Donilon, Michael Chertoff, Rudy Giuliani, Michael Hayden

Fox News Sunday (Fox): Tom Donilon, Dick Cheney

This Week (ABC): Tom Donilon, Condoleeza Rice, Husain Haqqani. Panel: Liz Cheney, Tom Ricks, Lawrence Wright

Face the Nation (CBS): Sen. Kerry, Donald Rumsfeld

State of the Union (CNN): Tom Donilon, Sen. Lugar, Anita Dunn, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Tom Davishttp://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=post&forum=439

Do you notice anything odd about that guest list? The Sunday morning talk shows are going to feature, Bush’s former, Sec. of Homeland Security (Chertoff), Bush’s former CIA director (Hayden), Bush’s former vice president (Cheney), Sec. of Defense (Rumsfeld), Bush’s former Sec of State (Rice), and former Deputy Asst. Sec of State (Liz Cheney). Other Republicans on the shows will be Tom Davis, Rudy Giuliani, and Dick Luger.

The current members of the Obama administration featured on the Sunday morning shows total one Obama’s National Security Advisor Tom Donilon. Anita Dunn and John Kerry are the only two other Democrats that will be featured.

1. Ahhh, The Clusterfuck Gang Is Back
the MSM never fails to disappoint on a daily basis.

Why would they call on these douchebags who didn't give a shit about OBL?

The so called experts in the media demonstrate over and over and over again - how worthless they are.

2. I can see why

The shows want discussion and opinion.

The Bush officials are out of power and are therefore free of constraints(apart from what classified info they have) from speaking.

Obama officials are constrained from opinionating anything further than what is already been put out by carney. Sometimes knowing too much and having responsibility is a damper.

5. That'd be a nice theory but DURING the Bush Administration the
numbers were remarkably similar as well.

9. Obama's administration is being smart.
They have already been burned by too many of their people speaking out of turn on this incident. Why should they take a chance? better to wait a week more and get their ducks in order.

6. Your argument would be valid IF....
During the bush years democrats and the opposing ideas were presented in the same ratio as Pug ideas and voices are presented today. They were NOT and are NOT.
In no accounting is this reality.
The bush officials far from being free of constraint are lying, spinning and rewriting history.

8. Seriously?
No "sarcasm" thingy? I mean, seriously?

There are literally dozens of people they could have had on the shows besides both Omama and Bush officials. Loading the panels with Bush officials/ass kissers is "discussion and opinion?" Seriously? How is loading panels with the people who fucking got us into 2 illegal wars and blew, through ineptitude and desire, capturing or killing Osama opening up panels for discussion and a non-neocon balance of opinion?

4. Conservatives control the Media. Who is the Party of Big Business
Which Big Business is most influential and supports
Republicans???? How many TV stations remind their
employees at election time. It is in the best intrest
of the station if Republicans win???

To be fair, Democrats often decline to come and appear
on TV. We have a habit of electing people who do not
run as Democrats. They try to "fit" themselves to
the district or state. This locks them in so they
cannot be on TV. FEAR they might say something that
contradicts what they told their constituents.

Now to be fair, Immelt, GE has said he voted for McCain
but he has worked with Obama and served in his administration.
MSNBC Progressive Show Hosts were started while he
is head of GE.

My point is Republican may have an edge but if we had
Democrats who were really fighting to get on TV, they
would be on TV.

11. If It's Sunday, It's Still Conservative
Special Report: How the Right Continues to Dominate the Sunday Talk Shows

Every Sunday morning, some of the country's most powerful and influential figures enact one of the most hallowed rituals in American politics: policymakers, government officials, journalists, and other newsmakers appear as guests on the network talk shows to hold forth on the pressing issues of the day. The shows -- ABC's This Week, CBS' Face the Nation, NBC's Meet the Press, and Fox Broadcasting Co.'s Fox News Sunday -- serve as an invaluable forum for the nation's agenda-setters. It is on these Sunday shows where conventional wisdom is formed and the terms of debate are set.

In order to assess the balance of voices on these programs, Media Matters for America classified every guest appearing on these programs during 2005 and 2006 (over 2,000 appearances in all) by their party affiliation and ideology (see Methodology section for details). This report follows on a previous study Media Matters released a year ago that analyzed the Sunday shows dating back to 1997.

The results show that the right has a distinct advantage in determining the shape of the debate on Sunday morning. During the years of the 109th Congress, Republicans and conservatives far outnumbered their Democratic and progressive counterparts on the Sunday-morning talk shows.
