Hasidic newspaper edits Hillary out of Situation Room photo
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2011/05/08/hasidic_paper_hilary_edit/index.html
Particular attention has gone to Clinton's seemingly emotional expression (which she says may have been due to allergies) and to the one other woman in the shot, Audrey Tomasen, a counterterrorism analyst whom the media had never heard of before.

But instead of analyzing the two female faces in the photo, one Brooklyn-based Hasidic newspaper, Der Zeitung, took a simpler approach: They just photoshopped them out. The Yiddish publication left two empty spaces in place of the two women. According to the Jerusalem Post, the blog Failed Messiah was the first to pick up on Der Zeitung's radically edited depiction of the Situation Room.

According to Jezebel, "the religious paper never publishes pictures of women, as they could be considered 'sexually suggestive'."
You can see the difference at the link. The "sexually suggestive" Tomasen is in the back corner, trying to see around someone. The "sexually suggestive" Clinton is in the front row.

May I suggest again that, if any group is not capable of looking at women (lest they be taken away by their otherwise-uncontrollable carnal urges) and can barely acknowledge their existence, it should grow up or leave. Such beliefs are incompatible with equality and the modern values of this nation. This applies to like-minded fundamentalists of every religion, as there exists no shortage of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim men who have no problem with women.

1. So they sacrifice truth for propriety
How could anyone believe this "newspaper" again? Who would know when they report honestly or not after this?

7. .."exists no shortage of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim men who...

Exactly... A point I'd like to emphasize repeatedly every time some misguided (and ignorant) among us wants to use the extremes of Islam fundamentalist to tar and entire people that consider themselves to be Muslim. Muslims are the majority in 57 countries, they speak about 60 languages and come from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Ironically, there is a likewise tendency to paint all of Christianity by the perverted views of those following fundamentalist (Old Testament driven) beliefs. Fundamentalism in all three major religions and their various sects promotes some pretty disgusting views & practices that are really not conducive to democracy.

16. A good representation of how religion works ...
Pick and choose what parts of the story match the desired reality. All of the religious leaders do this across the ages.. deciding what parts of their holy text to follow and what to ignore.. people need to grow up.

20. Wouldn't photos of men cause carnal longing by women?
Are women allowed to look at newspaper photos? And wouldn't they similarly be struck by lust?

It seems that the only solution is to remove all photos of humans from the newspaper. Oh, wait -- better remove all mammal photos too, because you know how it is with farmers and their sheep.
