Bring back waterboarding, says cheney
Edited on Sun May-08-11 02:59 PM by spanone
dear President Obama....it's way beyond time to prosecute this fucking war criminal.

look at the media here and i quote "but the killing of bin Laden......has reopened a raging controversy over the merits of employing such methods."

has anyone seen a 'raging controversy'?????

*************************

WASHINGTON — Former US vice president Dick Cheney credited harsh interrogation methods such as waterboarding as playing a role in tracking down Osama bin Laden and called Sunday for them to be reinstated.

In one of the first acts on entering the White House in 2009, President Barack Obama suspended so-called "enhanced interrogation techniques," equating them to torture and all that was wrong with the Bush era "war on terror."

But the killing of bin Laden, or more exactly the way the intelligence was gathered that led the CIA to track him down, has reopened a raging controversy in the United States over the merits of employing such methods.

Cheney, speaking on the Fox News Sunday program, said top intelligence officials had stated that "some of the early leads" that helped agents find bin Laden had come thanks to the harsh interrogation techniques.

13. Cheney should offer to be tortured and then try to keep
some of his secrets about the real reasons we went into Iraq -- what he knew and when he knew it.

If he gives up all his secrets, then maybe he proves that torture works.

If he doesn't then we know it doesn't work.

The demonstration should take place on TV news and be monitored by an equal number of representatives of Fox News and MSNBC (to insure fairness and balance).

A couple of additional things that we might clarify through Cheney's torture:

1) With what energy companies did Cheney confer during the first four years of the Bush administration? Remember how he took a case all the way to the Supreme Court to protect his executive privilege on that? He has never divulged that secret. Let's see if torture makes him truthful.

2) Who really outed Valerie Plame? Why? When? Who made the call? How was the decision made? Are Republicans planning any imminent actions, any press attacks in the near future against American patriots in our intelligence services?

That's just a start on ideas about secrets that we might be able to squeeze out of Cheney under enhanced interrogation techniques .

I'm not holding my breath, of course. The torture of Cheney should only be voluntary. And it is unlikely to take place because Cheney lets others bear the suffering and pain. He never puts his own body on the line for his country, and probably wouldn't even to prove that torture works.

17. Idiot.
And contrary to his attempts to exploit it, this case proves he's an idiot.

CBS News just reported that KSM and another detainee were waterboarded and both lied about the OBL courier. The fact that they both lied raised the suspicion that the courier was "important." That ultimately led to the raid.

This just shows that the waterboarding accomplished nothing. The detainees lied when waterboarded but they would have also lied before and after the waterboarding.

Idiot.

18. Early leads my ass. One could pick out any point in time after OBL came on the radar
and say it lead to the capture and killing last week, even going back as far as Clinton when he started the CIA group dedicated to finding him. 'That satellite image of him in Afghanistan was an early lead that helped agents eventually find bin Laden.'
