WTF?!?! WHEN did Holder start an investigation into torture
Sorry I didn't find it in a cursory search.

Is the subject of this thread planting a seed of history modification?

Please let it be that we are at least looking a little sideways if not back.

1. I don't know, hoot.
The president went over to CIA the first week or so of his term and told them publicly nobody was going to mess with them. It's hard to see him going back on that.

2. On Bill Maher's program Friday this was mentioned by David Frum. At that
point, I did a search of the internet, and could find nothing on it. I think Frum was referring to the 2009 potential for an investigation. I could find this: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/obama-pledges-to-protect-cia-torture-operatives-1670067.html which basically indicated that Obama and Holder weren't going to pursue it. Then there was this: http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/06/holder_cia_torture_review_almost_done.php, so I am really confused if there is now a new inquiry.

5. There's no fucking inquiry...
Edited on Sun May-08-11 03:30 PM by hootinholler
This is the seed of being able to claim there was an investigation 10 years from now.

Edit: We got Darth and Frum saying it. Who will be next? Was it on the Sundays?

6. Cheney is getting panicky
I think that he is fishing for a either a denial or an explanation (if one is underway). His guilt has made him paranoid and it's driving him nuts wondering if they will come for him in the night.

10. That's what Col. Wilkerson said about why Cheney et al are all
over TV trying to credit torture with the Bin Laden death. He said when asked why they are doing this, that they are panicking and are desperately trying to justify what they did.

Over Holder's investigation into torture.

Along the lines of "torture saved lives, I know you cannot tell Holder what to do" "No, I can't" "Will you advise you want it stopped" "No I won't"

I do vaguely remember it being reported that Holder was going to do an investigation of those who went farther than the rulebook in place at the time, now that I think about it

12. Here's a thread that might interest you regarding Obama, Holder, and CIA torture investigation
Edited on Sun May-08-11 04:08 PM by Tx4obama

This happened the other day, when Obama was meeting behind closed doors with the 9/11 victims' families
Excerpt:

"... When he (Obama) got around to Burlingame, she used the moment to press him on Holder’s controversial investigation into the CIA’s “enhanced interrogation techniques.” When Obama told her he didn’t have the power to order the Attorney General what to do, she pushed him to make a public statement on it. ...)

14. When? August 2009.
Obviously you weren't paying attention. And perhaps your search skills need a little honing, because I found many recent and then current articles about it on the first try. Obviously you weren't using the right keywords.

Here, let me Google that for you:
