However, I do not like to be anywhere near marijuana.

5. The Prison-Industrial Complex consumes a huge swath of taxpayer dollars...
...and has no intention of giving up one cent of them.
Ergo, drugs *MUST* remain illegal so the tax dollars
keep flowing.

It's also helpful that a huge number of African-
American males are currently incarcerated or have
been incarcerated, removing their ability to vote
(likely for Democrats).

There are far more pressing issues for Louisana to be dealing with.

And I would be remiss if I didn't say welcome to DU and enjoy your stay.

Back to the point you brought up, we do not see mexican weed up here nor any activities of any cartels. Our border brothers up here are hard working, tax paying Americans-regardless of legal status-quite unlike the riff raff that has been allowed to pollute the southern climes.
To the south a bit, there are rumors of border brothers planting on State and Federal lands, ignore these rumors propogated by those who need the money in the law enforcements schemes.
We would not allow it to happen. And I am speaking for every legal and otherwise grower up here.
They wouldn't be able to buy materials, fertilizer, food, gas, tools, nada.
Locals won't sell that stuff to people they don't know and without the basics, you ain't growing shit.

You have gotten your way, and yet you still aren't happy. So... What change are you arguing for? Death penalty for the first joint?

54. Pot is a big seller. Think of it this way...
cocaine sells for big profits, but pot is the bread and butter industry.

While huge shipments are found now and then, virtually every month huge loads of pot are found coming across the boarder.

Living in Texas has given me a huge education in the drug trade.

What I want to know is this: when and if pot is legalized here in the US, how will pot smuggled across the boarder from Mexico be classified?

Frankly, in the real world, I think Mexico will legalize both pot and coke before the US does.

Watch the right wing anti-immigration nuts go into overdrive then. It will become virtually impossible at that point to for pot to become legal in the states as long as the repukes maintain control of the message.

what are you after? do you have this overwhelming desire to be right? Or do you just refuse to take a persons personal experience from living in an area that his heavily populated by MS-13 as not evidence?

Nor do you care about how I provide information regarding my willing to pay a bit more from a farmer that pays his illegal vegetable pickers a living wage.

I don't know what game you are playing but frankly, I think you are a bit nuts.

LOL. I've asked you to back up your otherwise naked assertions. If that is "nuts" to you, then you're not ready to participate in a discussion.

"Nor do you care about how I provide information regarding my willing to pay a bit more from a farmer that pays his illegal vegetable pickers a living wage. "

That's because this neither backs up your point, above, about the profitability of the Mexican drug trade, nor does it support your broader argument in support of Drug Prohibition.

30. Thats my point...
You see these guys on prison shows who have been in jail 5 or 6 times...

You'd think at that point they would realize they aren't very good criminals and should choose another profession.

67. Amazing how many are disadvantaged minorities, eh?
What do you make of the fact that the best way of predicting if someone will be one of those criminals you view as incompetent is whether a person is socially and economically marginalized and disadvantaged?

Odd that, that and everything else we know about criminology, eh?

48. No, some laws are simply fucking WRONG. Would you say the same thing to a gay couple in Texas
before the Lawrence decision? Maybe you would.

I suppose that it doesn't matter that IT'S NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S PLACE TO TELL TWO CONSENTING ADULTS THEY CAN'T HAVE SEX WITH EACH OTHER IN THEIR OWN HOME, nor does it matter that IT'S NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S PLACE TO TELL A CONSENTING ADULT THEY CAN'T SMOKE A RELATIVELY HARMLESS PLANT IN THEIR OWN HOME.

I guess THE RULES are THE RULES!

Yay RULES! :eyes:

72. As much as I disagree with the War on Drugs...
and that marijuana at least should be legalized... this guy fucked up, pure and simple.

One would think that after the 2nd/3rd time, he should have realized that dealing in weed wasn't

the best career choice.

He knew the rules... he knew the game... he knew the consequences, but still chose to take his chances.

He gambled, and he lost.

He has no one to blame but himself.
