Immoral or amoral?
In another thread a few posters said that corporations should not be trusted because they purse only profits and are amoral entities. I'm not sure I agree with that, if their goal is greed and profit, isn't greed considered an immoral trait and not merely a lack of morals? So are corporations amoral or immoral in your eyes?

1. Despite what the Supreme Court may say,
corporations are not people, and thus cannot be moral or immoral; they are amoral. However, the people who run them are a different story. The decisions they make about how to run their companies definitely have a moral dimension to them.

2. Some of them the one, some of them the other. Think Costco is amoral vs Koch Industries immoral.

4. Some corporations are great.
A corporation is the name of a form of organization for a business entity, no more no less.

When we speak of "the corporations," we mean the megacorporations that are immoral. I have lots of friends with small businesses organized in the corporate form who are very careful and moral in the conduct of their businesses. Excessive greed is immoral, not amoral.

A CEO who earns 300 times the income of a Navy Seal is greedy and immoral.

6. Which corporations?
There are millions of them. Some are as small as a single person. Others operate as non-profit companies. I think you need to qualify your discussion a bit. Corporate structure is just a description of how a business or other organization is organized. A couple of my one-person companies were corporations. Trust me, there was no immoral activity going in either of them, and the CEO was far from rich.

Define your terms, please.
