Northeast Wins Biggest Piece of Rail Grants Florida Rejected
The U.S. government awarded $795 million to increase rail speeds between Boston and Washington, the largest share of the more than $2 billion in high-speed rail grants that Florida rejected in February.

Amtrak won $450 million, the U.S. Department of Transportation said in an e-mail statement today. The national passenger rail service got money to increase capacity and improve trip times between Philadelphia and New York. These funds will allow Amtrak to start bringing trains that can run 220 miles per hour to the Northeast Corridor.

“Amtrak made money last year, ridership was up last year - - they’re providing a good service,” Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said in an interview on Bloomberg Television. The investment in infrastructure and equipment “will make Amtrak a better system.”

1. Be classy, Northeasterners
A nice card to Gov. Scott seems appropriate.

3. Classy?
I decided to go with "worst governor" instead of "dumbest motherfucker". If that isn't classy, I don't know what is.

4. Waiting for Christie to opt out...
He's already trying to steal $271 million in Federal funds after backing out on the tunnel project.

Christie Says New Jersey Won’t Repay U.S. $271 Million in Tunnel Funds
By Terrence Dopp and Lisa Caruso - May 3, 2011 New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said he won’t return $271 million in federal funds for a canceled commuter-rail tunnel to New York, a decision that may cost the state $52,000 a week in interest.

The Federal Transit Administration began adding the fee to the bill April 29, after Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood rejected a state appeal to keep the money, according to a person familiar with the details who wasn’t authorized to speak on the record. At the 1 percent government rate on overdue debt, the cost could add up to $2.71 million a year.

“That is not money that should be paid back to the federal government,” Christie, 48, a Republican, told reporters in Trenton yesterday. “This is about whether that money will stay in New Jersey and be used for road projects in this state, or the federal government so it can go to another state.”

13. The Tunnel will be Built...
Christie is going to hire the guys that tunneled into the prison in Afghanistan to get the Taliban prisoners out. They came in early and under-budget.

5. I loved it when Jennifer Granholm told some of these snot-noses - "hey, WE'LL take your money!"
We WANT that money, WE can use it! You guys don't want it? FINE! Send it up here to Michigan instead!

Of course now, Granholm's out and that BASTARD WANNABE DICTATOR is in so he probably would reject the money too. Should go to one of the blue states then.

6. I live in Florida
Everyday I try to forget about the Nazis running our state. They are real shit stains.

The unemployement is way above national average here...somewhere around 11%. The Miami-Dade unemployement is higher than Detroit. They haven't created one job. Matter of fact they have initiated bills taht will KILL jobs. Cut teachers, health workers, state employees, etc. Then kill monies like for the Railroad. More job opportunities lost.

10. Wisconsin got squat
Wisconsin, which returned $810 million last fall after Republican Scott Walker was elected governor, had sought $150 million to improve an existing line between Chicago and Milwaukee. It got nothing.

Repub governors are good at something..... screwing their states.
