Maria Shriver has been "miserable" in her marriage for a long, long time

sources connected with the couple tell TMZ ... and it's all about Arnold Schwarzenegger's "craziness."

We're told Maria moved out of the couple's L.A. mansion months ago. Sources tell us she's been extremely unhappy in her marriage for years, complaining about Arnold's out of control ego, as well as his womanizing.

We're also told Maria feels Arnold has ignored her for years and she's felt terribly unappreciated.

Sources say the couple has spent "very little time together" for several years. Maria was frequently absent from Sacramento while Arnold was Governor.

The situation got worse once Arnold left office and decided he wanted to resurrect his movie career. Maria felt Arnold was becoming more erratic -- more "unstable."

Maybe now Maria will get back to a healthier weight, without all teh Ahnuld Crazy in her life. Her Skeletor frame has been frightening to see. :(

I look a whole lot different than I did 25 years ago, most of us do.

Not advocating for Arnie in any way, just saying that the passage of so much time nullifies before and after pictures.

Take a look at the way Eunice aged; frightening. None of the Kennedy women aged well, and with all their money, none of them would seek out a good plastic surgeon for some subtle repairs. A little Botox, a little Restylane; nothing major.

She doesn't owe it to us. Personally, I'd be happy if more women just decided to age the way they're supposed to. That would be a real indicator of happiness.

but agree that time wasn't kind to Eunice Shriver's face, and Maria does look like her mother quite a bit.

Not many of us look as good as we did 25 years ago.

she sort of comes off as sticking around to be the Governors wife and now that he's done she's bolting. Sort of an Ayn Rand like move if you ask me. They used each other on the way up, now can't stand each other on the way down :)

It wasn't worth it.

He had a teenaged girlfriend, who was paid off not to talk about their affair, when he was running for governor. Most of the sources of this have been scrubbed since then.

It's always sad when marriage falls apart like that. Being of any particular political party is besides the point.

And frankly as bad as Schwarzenegger has been at times, he's never been so bad to justify any schadenfreude from me.

She'll be in years of psycho-therapy to recover from that marriage, if she can ever recover.

Maria is just a victim of it? I have no experience with a partner having a sexual addiction, of course.....

No, I never got that impression from Gore. None of us know, but lots of us are all too willing to cast asparagus on the Arnie/Marie marriage simply because he's a rethug. I don't even think he's a diehard rethug actually.

And truthfully, none of us know what went on inside the Gore marriage abode, but look at the posts in the thread I linked to. Very different stories.

Understand, I'm not an Arnie fan, nor am I a rethug apologist. I was simply pointing out the instant flavor of both responses... one to that of a rethug divorce, and one to that of a Democratic one.

The breakup of a relationship or marriage is a personal issue..it has very little if anything to do with politics..
