Mr President: It's time to give the Republicans a good talking to.
There is such a thing as bipartisanship. However, that is not what the Republicans are asking for. They are holding this country hostage. They ran up a $11 trillion dollar debt and threw it in your lap. Then they ask why you haven't balanced the budget? Why have you not taken a trillion dollar deficit with an economy on the brink of collapse and reduced it to a zero deficit and a booming economy with jobs for all?

Mr President, you need to give these folks a good talking to. They are threatening the economic health of our nation because they believe in taxcuts for the wealthy as some folks might believe in God. It has become an ideological religion to them and it threatens each and every American, including honest, hard-working Republicans. Yes, we believe there are some left but they are not in Washington. Somebody has to hold these radical zealots responsible.

Break out the charts, Mr President. The Washington Post had a recent article that showed clearly that 50% of all the debt and deficit of the last 10 years were caused by the Bush taxcuts and wars that were not paid for. Show it to them in bright technicolor and bold letters so they cannot be mistaken. Our nation cannot withstand the policy goals of this radical Republican Party. Unfortunately, neither can their Republican supporters.

Call a national news conference, Mr President, and call them out. They have to be challenged. And they have to be called on the dangerous game they are playing. They are fooling no one except themselves. It is time to drag them on the carpet and make them face the music. Tell the American people exactly what these Republicans in Washington are doing to their country. The time is now.

They were handed a surplus in 2001 and they ran thru it in two years and started running deficits. It was not the Democratic Congress. There was no Democratic Congress. It was Republicans.

Then they took the promise of paying off the national debt in 10 years and threw it into the dirt. They gave it all away with taxcuts for their wealthy friends. If they had left everything as it was, our country would be in good shape today. They have torn down our country, Mr President, and it is time that they be called on it.

1. He did. Remember when he "ambushed" the incoming Republicans last January?
I remember his speaking of their ideology which paint Democrats as Socialists who want to destroy America and how that type of rhetoric leaves no room for compromise.

2. They have to be reminded frequently.
Now, it is the debt ceiling. They want to destroy everything middle class America has worked for in the last 75 years. And they are on the way if they are not stopped.

4. Who represents middle America, and has the capability to stop them?
We don't have any reps in Washington. Just one party who wants to crush us, and one party who wants to help them by looking the other way.

5. i agree with this post, but
i also agree with others saying that *he has been.* i've been thinking lately, however, that now would be the time for him to perform a little street theatre; charts, pep-rally type events, etc., and do it AD NAUSEUM until 2012. it seems to me that a lot of voters in the country need the cheerleading types, and if you can't beat them, join them. maybe it makes them feel special, part of the process, whatever. either way, it sure could help. so yep, i agree with the post. thanks!

6. He needs to talk to Americans, not Republicans. Republicans just don't listen
In their mind they are ALWAYS right about everything...Not only Obama but every single Democrat should harp on this constantly. Every single time any Democrat is on the air on any talk show they should pound this point home... But it will never happen because Democrats just want to get along...
