They are auctioning off a chunk of the Titanic's hull... ghoulish behavior to sell someone's coffin
Section of Titanic Hull Consigned by Charles Pellegrino Offered by Heritage Auctions @ http://www.artdaily.com/index.asp?int_sec=2&int_new=47226

Even though the Titanic is supposed to be off limits, they have found a way to sell pieces of it. Some people have no shame.

2. the titanic's been a fucking chain for years
if you only travel to vegas, maybe you don't get it, but if you travel the world and see that the same exhibition is in vegas and london and montreal and...well...everywhere really...you start to get it

it isn't any more ghoulish to sell as an art piece than to sell it a ticket at a time, for drunks to gawk at

museums are partly about the human urge to stare

trust me, the dead don't care or, if they do, they probably prefer it to the more usual fate of the dead...being forgotten

3. It's not a coffin - it's a ship.
I have no problem with the auction.

7. 'They', as in 'a shameless liar and self-promoter'
The university that Charles Pellegrino, the embattled author of “The Last Train From Hiroshima,” claimed had awarded and then stripped him of a Ph.D. issued a statement late Thursday saying that it “utterly rejects” his claims as “baseless and defamatory.”

Henry Holt & Company, which stopped printing and selling “Last Train” earlier this week because of questions about the accuracy of several sections as well as concerns that some of the people quoted or portrayed in the book did not exist, had also questioned whether Mr. Pellegrino actually held a doctorate from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand.

From the ad for the hunk of metal: "Charles Pellegrino is one of the most well-known and influential scientists and authors in the world..."

12. At Titanic exhibitions
they sell chunks of coal that were in the hold near the boiler room. I even own a piece. How is this much different?
