11. Ok...
Kids in the lunch line at an elementary school have to have their trays measured by a camera hooked up to a computer, both before they eat then after, when they drop off the tray.

The kids are literally being monitored, so they eat the amounts the adults think they have to.

5. Exactly.
The kids don't need cameras spying on what they eat.

8. As a Special Ed. teacher am concerned about student confidentitality
Edited on Wed May-11-11 11:31 PM by Whoa_Nelly
For years it's been the rule that those children who are under the umbrella of public school Special Education, from Speech services to self-contained mental retardation, that these children must be protected, including having their photos taken and publicly displayed without parent permission.

That said, have to say that for years, even going all the way back to the '80s when my son was in elementary school, the meals were crap and generally around 33% fat in content. My son hated the prepackaged frozen/mega-heated crap so much, he always had a lunch form home, and his choices for that were usually pretty healthy. When I was in elem. in the early '60s, we actually had our school food cooked from scratch, had choices, and, except for the usually over-steamed/boiled veggies, it was pretty good food back then.

9. So what?
People need to learn how to eat properly. So that they don't ever have to say, "I don't understand why I'm so fat".

10. This isn't new.
We had teachers in the 70's make sure we ate our apples, not just the processed pudding and other crap on our plates.
No cameras, no need. They got it done!
