Wingnuts
As you can probably tell from my avatar (and sig), I'm a big hockey fan. Last night, I was talking to an old friend , originally from Livonia, Michigan. He bemoaned the fact that "wingnut" used to be (in its slang definition) a fan of Detroit's legendary NHL team, but now it has a vastly more prevalent slang def.

Being a Bruins (no longer Capitals :cry:) follower, this very obvious point had not occurred to me, but my friend is 100% correct.

There is one upside to this, however: I now have something to throw in the face of any Repuke who bleats that "gay" used to mean "happy."

And I'm sincere in that: The Wings outplayed the Sharks in the last 40 minutes. At the second intermission, I would've bet $50 that Detroit would end up winning.

...the Canucks are going to (pun intended) DEVOUR the Sharks. Vancouver in 5 games, tops!

Detroit RedWings fans when in polite company but it wasn't meant to be complimentary.

My guess is the typical Wings fan heard it so often he simply assumed people were saying hi. ;-)
