Let's say you're the governor of a state that's about to face near record-breaking floods, and those floods are expected to disproportionately affect one of the most poverty-stricken areas of the United States. What would be on your agenda? Mobilizing an evacuation plan, pehaps? Or maybe preparing to offer state assistance to flood victims?

I think we should ask for a new forum where YouTube video is shown of the homeless in danger or being beaten (or crushed by a dumpster, can you say hilarious? all good clean DU fun as recently revealed via a clarification of the rules and making jest of exactly that)!

Forgive me in advance for using the word "naked" in conjunction with a story on Haley Barbour.

when there is such a strong divide between the rich and the poor. Those in between are either exhausted from trying to hang on or those doing a little better identify themselves with the rich. Either way nothing gets done to help those in need.

I really think that the message which started in the 1980's (You are responsible for your life) created a consciousness of blame towards those who couldn't do it all themselves and needed help. I believe that it contributed to the cold people we have become today.
