Feud between the various rapture nuts.
Edited on Fri May-13-11 11:38 PM by Renew Deal
It's amusing to watch the action around the end times stuff that's going on. The nuts have invaded NYC to "warn" us of the big day. The problem is that there's disagreement in the rapture community about dates and tactics. Long time end-timers at Rapture Ready are feuding with the nuts at Family Radio (May 21). They have a few main objections:

We do not know the exact date and time of the second coming
"Date Setters" will discredit () the cause.
"Date Setting" makes the Family Radio people "false prophets."

The RR people are really worried about the May 21 nuts making them look bad. I didn't know that could be possible, but it actually is. I grabbed a few of their posts about this and posted them below.

___________________________________________________________________________

It's kooks like this that make people turn against Christianity. No Date Setting!!! (rofl)
-------------------------------------------------------

i was reading up on this guy a while back... and i'm looking forward to May 22nd to see what this guy does. you'd think that every last follower would bail - but watch 'em stick around.
----------------------------------------------------------

I was stopped at a red light next to one of Family radios big RV's that had that date plastered all over it saying that Christ was coming back on that day. After witnessing to them very quickly and stating that Camping was a false prophet all they would do is shake their head in disagreement and tell me to read his book, in which I replied, "No thanks I read the Bible and yall should too!" Of course they then just got mad and drove off, so please be praying for those two false missionaries!
----------------------------------------------------------

don't understand where people keep coming-up with dates, when the Bible shows no man knows the day or the hour, and, not only that, that particular Bible verse is quoted so much over and over, and it always is quoted everytime somebody sets a date. Yet, a new supposed "date of Jesus' return" comes out every so often. (???) I don't understand it. I'm not putting anybody down at all; I understand people are blinded w/out really knowing the Lord, or they may be blinded by the enemy in some way, or walking in their fleshly ways. I'm not sure.... But, I would think that Bible verse would cease any man setting a date of Jesus' return, because it clearly shows nobody knows the date.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Real talk, I can't fathom the arrogance and disregard for immature Christians that it takes to date set and try to make a name for oneself.

People who don't know the bible well or don't care do stuff like that, and I'm sure it's not out of a spirit of goodness. The first thing these people always hear is "no man knows the date or the hour." They get the same answer every time, but they still publish garbage. The bible clearly says "no man knows the date or the hour." How difficult is that to understand? It is the plainest English anyone could ever hope to get.

The Rapture could happen today, and that is my dearest hope. What level of self righteousness does it take to create a date in your own mind for the Lord's return, and then broadcast it for the Christian church to just accept? What a mistaken concept that is. Jesus can come before sunrise, or whenever. It could be anytime. May 2011 means nothing to me, and I hope that enough Christians realize that Jesus can come at anytime, and that is His promise. That is the blessed hope, not May 2011. There is not one passage in scripture about May 2011, not a single one. As we get closer each second to His return, I hope these date setters realize what they are doing is wrong, and that their motive is completely messed up. It's not about Jesus at all with them. It's about "look at me, I have the answers, look at me!" They don't have anything.
-----------------------------------------------------------

When Campings predicted date for the Rapture comes and goes without Christians being raptured, I think he should get a boat-load of email with just two words written on each one--------
False Prophet!

I think this would be entirely appropriate.

1. And then there is this theory:
These people (date setters) are plants from satan to get people to turn away from god: flood people with false messages that don't come true and they will stop believing - at which point the end will actually become as there will be a great falling away from the church...

:)

what this reminds me of in the history of Christianity. Closest thing I can think of is maybe the Avignon Western Schism (aka The Babylonian Captivity), when there were (I think) 2-3 different Popes competing for legitimacy at the same time.

Hilarious stuff, though.

4. Perhaps if no one gets raptured it could be because God came
and he determined there was no one worthy........ just a thought

6. I said that to one of them.
"What happens if no one goes? Does that mean no one was worthy?"
Response: "People will go."

I almost feel bad for these true believers. They will have ruined their lives for nothing.

7. Yeah, I know what you mean. But they are completely
impervious to reason. To wit, if you ask them about radio-carbon dating, they dismiss it as one of Satan's ploys to deceive the faithful. I mean, where do you go from there? There's this unbridgeable epistemological chasm between them and me.

8. I've heard of that answer
What a bizarre thing for Evil Incarnate to do--

when he's not whispering in some serial killer's ear or inspiring a genocidal maniac, he's---

planting fossils and inventing elaborate "carbon dating" hoaxes.

Oh well. Banality of Evil and all that.

10. Petty and cruel
That 'explanation' always reminds of the dog owner who puts a treat on the dog's nose, then hits the dog if it follows its natural instinct and moves to eat the treat.

11. I don't think the church wants that.
I don't believe that the church wants people to live in suffering to get to the other side. And it says that "man" doesn't know the date and time of the end. These people have chosen a very dark interpretation of the Bible where they will all be dead in the next week. Can you imagine that? In a week they expect to be in the presence of the lord. What kind of depression kicks in when that doesn't happen?

One of the videos on this site talks about a guy that killed himself after the 1994 bad prediction... http://www.aftermay212011.com/Videos.html

I bet it will happen again. You should see the emptiness when you talk to these people.
